Non SL-68 barrels on SL-68 II?

I remember old threads on how to get other barrels onto an SL-68 II. Something about machining off threads on an Angel barrel or something...

    Anyone have specifics?

I used a Phantom stock barrel and it works great. A lathe works nicely for turning down whatever barrel you want to use. Also consider the fit inside the pump handle.

Well I did an Angel barrel on my hobby lathe. That worked great. Problem is that I can't clamp down on the barrel in the receiver. Only removed the threading. Was planning on modeling/printing my own pump handle, so no issues with barrel girth.

I took a gen 1 .687 cp cocker barrel and turned down the threads to fit and the od of the barrel. While I was at it I turned down a small bit of the end of the barrel so I could mount a gen 1 apex tip on it. It is a little ugly, but fits right in with the rest of the guns condition outside. I also found a Spyder threaded(redz I think) feedneck that fit in the original feedneck like a glove so now I have a standard size clamping neck too.

So did I go too far with bringing my threads down? Should I have left some height on there for the body to clamp down? it seemed that it made sense to just go down to the barrel shank and not leave any threads. Anyone have any pics of their barrel shanks?
