COVID - Comfortable Masks for Big Heads

I am looking for recommendations for comfortable COVID masks.

I know this could start all kinds of jokes, but I, uhm... I have to wear a larger sized had. Often I have to use only the very last connection on adjustable ball caps.

That said, the loop masks I am finding locally are very uncomfortable around the ears. Also, if I properly cover my nose, then my chin is exposed and can not hold the bottom down properly. I find myself constantly adjusting the mask.... which has me touching it... and possibly defeating the purpose. The slip tie type fits better, but the ones I have do not have enough material to cover the required area... remember they make these things for the AVERAGE person. Those of us on the fringes often have to make do with what is available.

So, do you have any mask recommendations with sources for larger guys? Extra points go to those which minimize fogging glasses.

    Thanks

I have been rocking a bandanna like an old west bandit. It stays on my nose, covers my chin, and ties behind my head below the ears. I find that my sunglasses fog only minimally, but I don't know if that translates to regular glasses or not. I wear my sunglasses on top of the bandanna on my nose, kind of tucking the edge of the bandanna under the sunglasses... I don't know if that helps or hinders efforts to mitigate fogging, but it looks good. Lol.

One of the best things I've found is ear savers. I have a giant kraut head and have the same problem. I can mail you a couple I 3D printed if you'd like. Just PM me your address.

If you are wearing the mask for long periods of time a piece of medical tape across the top of the mask will stop the fogging. If you know how to sew there are quite a few patterns available for larger sized heads.

Are you actually concerned about COVID- in which case, you need a respirator- or are you just trying to stay in-compliance with some local/regional mandate? If it's the latter, I picked up a couple of neck sleeves off slamazon for a few bucks a piece a couple years ago. They are available in all kinds of patterns and came in handy during this recent nonsense. As a bonus, they keep my neck and lower face out of the sun (which was the original intent) when I'm walking into/out of a joint. I also feel like I'm obliged to rob whatever store I may be visiting, so there's that extra thrill.

I find the sleeve style “masks“ are the most Comfortable. Sad face shields type ones

My work supplied 2 face shields after so many complaints about the disposable masks originally provided.. I'm I big fan, it's comfortable, breathable, doesnt fog. Super easy to take off the paintball mask and put the shield on, and the band is huge and adjustable. I have an average sized head and it's on one of the smaller belt notches, so you should be good.

Thanks for wearing one also, it's not all about "muh freedom!" y'know.

I use one of the masks from Undr. To address fogging, I stitched a 4" length of electrical wire into the nose and formed it to my face. I don't get any fogging with this mask (unlike with the surgical masks my employer requires). As for the ears, an ear saver will pull the mask tight to create a better face seal as well as remove strain from the backs of your ears.

I wear a buff style sleeve lately...never thought id see the day I walked into the Liquor store looking like I could rob the place. Best part is when they ask for ID, and look at my DL puzzled but don't want to ask me to pull my mask down lol.

The dispensaries used to have signs that requested that you remove hats, sunglasses, and masks for security reasons before all this pandemic BS... the signs were all replaced with ones that require you to wear a mask. Lol. Fun times.

The neck gators are comfortable, but most are only one layer... at that point it's mostly BS posturing, but I suppose it's better than nothing.

I picked up some nose clips off of Etsy and really like them. They have turned masks that I didn't really like into something actually wearable. For some reason a lot of masks don't have a wire in the top which means they don't fit well and tend to move around. The clips stop most of the moving around.

I much prefer tie masks to ear loop masks, much more adjustable and comfortable

if you can't find an actual mask that will fit, i'll +1 a neck gaiter. not as effective, but it's better than nothing. they are all over amazon, tons of styles.

I use a mask my wife made that has straps that go around your head instead of around the ears (same as the ones you would get at a hardware store). I don't understand the appeal of around the ears honestly.
