I like the reserved seating. What I don't care for so much is actually having to pre-order tickets weeks in advance just to catch a movie it's opening week. That said, there are alternatives that cut out the inconveniences; just had to pause Oppenheimer to type this out.

I have no regrets in the decision that....I last entered a movie theatre around 2007.

Not as long ago as you but I too have stopped going to the theater, it has been many years since I stepped inside a theater. I do miss the experience occasionally (so does my wife) that is why she is big on my finally building a "Theater Room" upstairs now that my daughter's family has moved out. Actually been looking at reclining couches yesterday just for this purpose along with reviewing projectors.

I noticed all of the aspects of the theater side of things start to take root not too long before COVID. One theater started running assigned seating with better seats and then others (from competing chains). Most all of them have upped their concession offerings (to include Beer and Wine). For previews / ads, I think AMC / Regal really cut down on how many they show but, a smaller, independent theater (that I don't think survived COVID0 was definitely very liberal with their ads (for TV shows, websites, etc).

I have my own 92", 7.1-channel movie theater in my house so, that's where most of my movies will be watched (as soon as I can get discs). I'm fortunate enough to live near an actual Dual Laser Imax (vice the "Imax"-licensed theaters by AMC and the like) so, if the movie is going to be an audiovisual spectacle (Top Gun: Maverick, Oppenheimer, etc), I will see it there, first.

What I don't like about mainstream theaters more than the phones are the folks who can't shutup and add their commentary 'Don't open that door!'...
