yeah, they dropped the price on the 1080 when the Ti came out, the 2000 series should definitely get to dropping, maybe when they 3000 series finally starts figuring out how to get in stock for more than 1 minute at a time?

They won't. Maybe in the used market, eventually, but they were so overpriced to begin with. The AMD cards will really help drive down prices, not really the 3k series.

        obligatory case porn shot

the results on the benchmarks were substantial

im running a 7600k with 16 gigs of g-skil 32000 in case anyone was wondering

benchmarks are with the graphics up to their highest setting, 1080p resolution g-sync compatible 240hz monitor, including things i find personally annoying, like lens flare and bloom

before with my plane jane 1080

        Ghost recon wildlands FPS:
        Average: 52.44
        Min: 46.44
        Max: 60.16 (vsync WAS off)

        Ghost recon Breakpoint FPS:
        Average: 74
        Min: 46
        Max: 124

        Far Cry 5
        Minimum FPS: 52
        Average FPS: 70
        Maximum FPS: 91

        Borderlands 3 - FramesPerSecondAvg: 59.83 - FrameTimeMsAvg: 16.72

RDR2 Frames Per Second (Higher is better)
        Min, Max, Avg
        Pass 0, 11.090126, 39.935146, 23.874828
        Pass 1, 13.538963, 29.865904, 26.233435
        Pass 2, 10.819361, 35.391842, 27.418465
        Pass 3, 10.535965, 29.163277, 22.490946
        Pass 4, 3.685427, 31.917271, 24.057676
        Pass 5, 14.705471, 24.986506, 20.593779
        Pass 6, 12.746274, 28.589317, 26.147789

overwatch i play often and can say with full confidence this ran at about 110 frames per second 99% of the time, though i dont remember if thats with ultra textures or epic textures

Now with 3080 ultra (this card does have a slight factory overclock FWIW)

wildlands, according to the benchmark test, the numbers didnt change, and i dont know why, the benchmark however, ran amazing with nary a stutter.. so i dunno what thats all about

breakpoint (and this will go up if i turn synapse off, as it has some bizarre conflict with the game engine.. cause textures to load all weird)
        min: 54
        avg: 97
        max: 172

        Far Cry 5
        Min 74
        Avg 94
        Max 127

        borderlands 3 - FramesPerSecondAvg: 105.24 - FrameTimeMsAvg: 9.50

and lastly red dead redemption 2
Frames Per Second (Higher is better)
        Min, Max, Avg
        Pass 0, 24.816111, 65.234550, 54.795971
        Pass 1, 43.822170, 117.324074, 91.539055
        Pass 2, 24.361366, 94.578743, 70.914360
        Pass 3, 25.816111, 50.382149, 42.132912
        Pass 4, 11.008148, 93.962891, 61.447098
        Pass 5, 25.275566, 64.572365, 55.713959

also overwatch runs anywhere from 190-239fps now with epic textures,
the card does run a little hotter though, and the fans can be heard a bit more than i care for though the mesh sidewall of my case, but, i mean, its a mesh side-wall, its not exactly a great noise barrier to begin with, so ill say thats not a fair comparison

i assume that something is getting reported weird, or it could be like halo and its locked to 60, cause thats the smoothest 60FPS i have ever seen

regardless it runs beautifully, so i have no complaints, even if the benchmark looks weird

Awesome. These cards are begging to be water cooled, IMO. Part of the reason why they are so fast is simply because of the high ass voltage. They simply run hot.

you make a compelling point about some type of liquid cooling, its a shame it costs you your warranty to do it..
