Palmer's Stabilizer Reg Issue. Can't adjust.

Basically the reg had been reading 400 no matter how I adjusted. No leaks, marker fired. This had the "high pressure" guts and I swapped over to the standard pressure, then proceeded to sweet spot with a chrono. All was going well, reg reading just over 300psi, ran out of air. Dang! Refill my tank and a couple days later plan to start where I left off at. Well, the reg reads maxed out at 600psi, balls go maybe 8 feet and drop. Tear gun down, slap back together, them the reg reads nothing. No leaks, but no pressure and marker doesn't fire at all...

Any ideas? Going to pull apart the top section and inspect o-rings and valve seal. The guy in the thread posted above mentioned replacing o-rings and valve seal but still running into his issue... I'll be snagging a seal rebuild kit if necessary, but wanted to see if anyone is aware of this kind of problem and other solutions.

Dumb question, but did you happen to let that little disk part that goes between the piston spring, and the adjustment screw?

My only other guess if that new poston is cocked and jammed in the body or something.

Disk that goes between the spring and adjustment screw is there, yes. Need to grab a 3/8" bit to pull the rest out. Ordered a seal rebuild just in case though, cheap and good to have around.

Update. And it was a dumb mistake on my part...I put the piston in the wrong way LOL. Will retry sweet spotting and see if everything is good. Everything aired up fine and the gauge was in low 200's with the adjustment screw out a bit, watched the needle climb as I turned the screw in, so it seems to be working as it should.

Still odd that it was showing maxed out at a higher psi before. The valve and/or seal still may need some looking at. Will still do a tear down and rebuild once those bits get here though.

The over-pressure vent in the piston may have been what caused the weird behavior. Knowing that little valve is in there, upside down piston came to mind as causing a head- scratcher. Not entirely sure how it's installed, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Other things that make that style of reg act weird are pressure building up behind the piston. If swapping the main piston o- ring doesn't fix a creep issue, check the vent hole in the body to ensure it's not plugged. On the early Torpedos, this vent was missing; I've drilled vents in a couple and had improved behavior.
