Vforce Generation 2 (Profiler 2 and Grill 2) Comparison and Review

Thanks to the good folks at Impact Proshop, I picked up a pair of Profiler 2s and Grill 2s. The Grills were on sale and I paid out of pocket for these. Total cost around $263.39 CAD all said and done. Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_3374.jpg Views:	135 Size:	2.15 MB ID:	687635

So here is what you get with the Profiler 2:

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_3375.jpg Views:	88 Size:	5.37 MB ID:	687636

And here is what you get with the Grill 2s:

Both come with a visor, mask bag and instructions which I never read. The Grill 3 comes with a nice mask bag made of softer material and has the vforce logo on it. The mask bag that came with my Profiler 2 has no logo and is plasticky feeling.

Both visors clip onto the top of the Google frame in three dedicated holes. The visors pops in easy, with the Grill being slight harder to do due to the visor being lower profile.

With the visor on, the Grill looks better. The Profiler’s visor sits higher on the mask than it does on the Grill and the visor is not as fitted as the previous Gen 1 visor.

Another thing to notice is the Grill 3 has more vents above the lens than the Profiler 2.

I agree about your assessment of the Profiler visor - looks like it was a design afterthought

Both masks use a similar dual density foam:

The foam is in two separate pieces, a top and a bottom piece, so if you wear glasses it should be better:

Another big addition to both masks are the soft ears:

Looks at the venting, it’s interesting to note the Profiler mask’s vents looks bigger than they are due to the sloppier excess plastic in the vents:

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_3400.jpg Views:	0 Size:	2.66 MB ID:	687671
This is not present in the side vents though:

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_3402.jpg Views:	0 Size:	3.18 MB ID:	687672

And the Grill does not have any of these extra bits in any of its vents:

Now later in this thread I’ll compare the version 2 to the originals of the mask. But let’s get to what most of you want to know. How do they fit!

Here’s the fit of the Grill. First shot is with my mouth closed, second with my mouth open for both sequences:

                  Thoughts on the Grill 2:
The mask has better coverage than I expected. It appears to cover my chin well if I keep my mouth shut. My lower jaw looks to be fully protected from the side profile as well. The view from the mask is noticeably cramped compared to the Profler 2, but I am used to the Grill lens as I have been primarily wearing Grills for a few years now.

                  Thoughts on the Profiler 2:
Appear to over more coverage than the Grill 2 and covers my chin completely even with my mouth wide open. The sis profile looks to cover my jaw as well. I have been wanting a mask with better coverage and the Profiler 2 seems to fit the bill.

Now let’s looks at the lens remove and see how easy it is:

                    First, pop the strap clip:

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_3416.jpg Views:	0 Size:	3.36 MB ID:	687699

Then pull on the centre of the lens clip and pull back:

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_3419.jpg Views:	0 Size:	1.84 MB ID:	687701

                    And remove the clip:

Then repeat on the other side, push the side of the lens in and forward and it’s out!

Super quick and easy, even on a brand new set of goggles!

The goggle clips are still marker with an L and and R to make it easy for people:

Now for the Grill 2, which is a similar process:

The Grill also has a litre retaining strap so the goggle claps stays put. It’s a nice little detail.

That said, between the two masks the Profiler 2 is easier to change the lens because the strap clip is larger and easier to manipulate. The difference was ultimately trivial and still one of the easiest lens changes to do.

I’ll also just take a minute and thank my assistant. Apparently this was a lot of work and they fell asleep on the job… but their presence was appreciated.
