Upgrade Recommendations for a Prostock Pump?

Within the last couple of months I’ve got back into pb after about 10 years away from the game. I’ve had this pump for 15+ and I’m thinking it’s time for some modifications/upgrades. I would like some recommendations. The internals are all stock btw and I run a classic freak kit with an AA front.

To be honest, that's a nice build that really doesn't need much. Most changes are cosmetic and won't add much performance.

Maybe a clamping feedneck or if you want to spend money, a new trigger frame. Stock internals are fine, especially on a sniper. You could put a spring kit in it and change the pump stroke a bit. The CCM pump kits are great. There are a few new styles such as an EZ pump kit, which has a different pump handle. Or you could go with a Slice kit and add a little colour, but not won't perform any differently.

    What barrel are you running?

My first "Must have" for a pump would be a single trigger frame. That is personal preference but I cannot stand double finger triggers on pumps.

As for upgrades, you could send the body out for a feedneck mod so you can get a clamping feedneck on it. You could look at new internals to smooth out your pump stroke. I have played with several different kinds and my favorite was Autocockerparts.com internals with the SLPS spring kit. It was super smooth. Other than that, you are going to see a depreciating return on investments.

If you want to get really wild, you could send the body to MozakMachine for like $250ish he will mill your body into a real head turner. I just got an 06 BM body back he patched the eyes on and he did an awesome job. Most of his stuff seems to be on his Facebook page, but he does have a website.

I really like your setup I would just put a single slider frame on it.

i'm w/ shooter311 .... spend any money towards a really nice frame, some nice wraparound grips for it. what you already have is a great open class setup for running off of HPA.

also agree w/ him that a feedneck mod is a good idea. i have the same body in green, and it's not very compatible with modern hoppers. the tippman .50/.68 grav fed 100 rounder fits the neck as is like a glove though. if you get it modded for an empire mount, you can go empire springfeed or put any empire compatible clamping feedneck on there.

check out some of the mini hoppers out there that hold <50 rounds. way slimmer shooter profile. the tippman loader i use i'm always getting hit right on the nose of it because it sits up so high.

What barrel do you have? A kit with different size backs/inserts would likely be the most important upgrade of all.

Some good prices on sliders here. Only sharing because if they sit too long I’ll just buy them.

Ah, well it’s under the misc paintball gear section. There’s a groovy frame and another one for $75 each.

You're probably referring to mine, but the groovy frame is spoken for.

You are correct, and I’m glad to hear it. I don’t even have a body to put it on.

Slider frame, barrel kit w/ inserts, hit the field.

You didn’t mention any flaws with the gun so I’d suggest doing nothing.

I just added the barrel to the description. Classic freak kits w/all American tip. Sometimes I’ll use the .685 kit from my Empire Sniper.

Just shoot it as is, and have fun.

Once that has been accomplished and during the having fun part if there are things about your paintball gun you do not like or question its capabilitity then start entertaining "upgrading". Most "upgrades" have very little affect on actual performance and are more around aesthetics than anything. My main open class pump has had very little change in it since I bought it new in 2008 (my Pyre). Playing well is more a function of the player then their tools.

Now if you just want to have fun modifying your paintgun, have at it and have fun. Just remember to keep at least one reliable marker available for any day of play, because having to tinker while games are going on suck.

I would change out the springs with some mad man or CCM. A nice single trigger frame would be my next purchase after that. I never liked those frames. But honestly just shoot it like that unless you want to throw money at it. It looks well sorted as is honestly.

Spend your money on a great case of paint and a day at the field.

                        That marker is fine
