Prototyping a replacement switch for the Worr Blade + Eblade/Worr frame eyes

Hey everyone — new to MCB 😜

I’ve been seeing posts across different paintball forums about dead WGP Worr Frames, and it seems like a common failure point is the membrane switch. I’m in the same boat — this is my third frame with the same issue. The stock switches tend to either barely work or fail completely, and finding replacements at this point is nearly impossible.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working on prototyping a replacement switch assembly for my own frame, focusing on improving both durability and reliability.

    Switch Assembly Redesign

    Here’s what I’m doing differently:
    • Replacing the fragile dome switch with a sealed tactile switch to eliminate issues with moisture and wear
    • Moving away from the flexible PCB alone (which can flex and delaminate) to a rigid-backed design
    • Developing a custom silicone button pad that’s molded specifically for the new electronics

The goal is to create something that feels better, lasts longer, and solves the common failure points of the original design — not just a temporary fix.

I’ve got the electronics side mostly finalized and am currently working through the last few details before sending things out for professional manufacturing.

Right now I’m mainly trying to gauge interest — would anyone else be interested in something like this for their Worr Frame?

Open to feedback, ideas, or anything you’d want to see in a replacement like this.

Altered patterns for the led indicator window on the silicon button pad are possible as I'm making those in house.

P.S. I’m also working on replacement eyes for the EBlade / Worr Frame.

To be clear — I’m not redesigning the system here. The goal is to replicate the original reflective eye behavior and form factor as closely as possible while improving durability, and to add another place where people can source them in the future.
    • Matching original optical layout and package style
    • Maintaining compatibility with the stock board
    • Recreating a reliable supply

I have several 2005 WGP Black Magics that I’m trying to keep as close to factory stock as possible.

So I would potentially be interested in 2-3 replacement switches.

Nice, I shouldn't be long with them. Is the black magic in your profile pic one of them? 🤤

I kept the marker in my profile pic mechanical. It’s a fun shooter, but doesn’t get used nearly as often as it should.

This is fantastic, my membrane switch is still working but I worry about the day it might not. I'd most likely pick one or two of these up as a backup.

Believe me I get it, it's incredible how complicated even the simplest of products can be to get out your door.

Awesome! I'm still a bit surprised about the response I have received so far from putting this out there

Quick update on the Worrframe replacement switch project.

First off, I want to thank everyone for the interest and the feedback so far. This project ended up being a much bigger undertaking than I originally expected. Before even getting to the point of sending a design out for PCB manufacturing, there were roughly 200 hours of development involved between measuring original parts, modeling, prototyping, testing, and redesigning.

The current design is now finalized, and I’m moving into the small-batch production stage. The PCB itself is professionally manufactured, but the components will be hand-assembled by me. I did look into professional PCB assembly, but for the small quantities involved it would have made the cost of each switch astronomical, so hand assembly is the only way to keep these even somewhat affordable.

Each switch also requires hand soldering and urethane casting, so these won’t be mass-produced parts.

I just sent out for the boards and the components to piece them together. 😃

Thank you! There are actually two different yellow/red Orracles used in that video.

I meant to use 4269 for all the display shots as well as for all the shooting portions since it’s the closest to stock, but the first day I was collecting video at the field it wasn’t cooperating, so I used a different red/yellow Orracle 2759 that I had with me that day that had Palmers pneumatics and internals. 2759 made it into the Final Cut in the first action shot at the 0:21 mark shooting from the tower.

4269 ended up in some shots around the 7:00 mark at the chrono station on a totally different day and at a different field.

Quick update on the replacement switches:

The switches have been manufactured and shipped as of 4/10/26. Current tracking shows an estimated delivery window of 4/20–4/30.

Next step will be ordering the mold for the urethane membrane portion of the switch.
If everything checks out, I’m planning to have the first limited run (24 switches) ready to ship sometime in May.

Appreciate everyone’s patience so far — getting close.

Still dialing in final costs, but current target is $30–40 for the first run.

That may adjust slightly once production is fully locked, but that’s the range I’m working in.

Project update: Switches are ready to ship.

        New thread located here
Hey all👋 , I finally got a small run of these switches finished up for the WorrFramE. These are meant for the standard switch setup in those frames. Nothing fancy—just focused on getting something that feels consistent and doesn’t get finicky with fitment or use. I’ve been testing them in a few builds and tweaking things as
