    Low velocity on Traccer ...

    Hello MCB,

Got a chameleon kit on my traccer, but the velocity is super low ...

What's the way cool kids get their traccer to speed?
Still using washer on the main spring?

    Thanks,
    X

Does the chameleon kit divert any air used for firing? I'm not super familiar with the design. I recall having to use a slightly longer than stock spring on my Maverick to get it up to speed (something, something pre-load?). What are you using for a barrel? I know aftermarket barrels exist, but I don't think there's much in the way of bore control outside of the usual nail polish detents, freedummy detents or wedgits.

Absolutely 0 bore control ... Just nail polish detent ...
it does divert some air for the lpr ... Think cocker front block bolted on a nelson pump ...

I'm shooting around 180 with it ... I'll try a longer spring if I find one, maybe a lighter valve spring may also help?

PS: if I can get it shooting, I'd love to get an aftermarket barrel (or thread the body for cocker? Maybe this deserves its own thread ...) And maybe a foregrip or barrel shroud of some kind ...

I’ve got 2 traccers. One with the chameleon kit short barrel and the other basic pump long barrel sniper. Both have super stanchy’s cocker conversion. I too have the low fps. Thinking I’m going to try the cocker springs Ive read about. Getting 225 on the long barrel. Been a long while since I ran the chameleon. May give it a run this weekend.

Don't all those clones use standard Nelson springs? If so why not just get a spring kit from phantomonline.com and tune it to whatever you need?

I've used cocker spring kits on Trracers in the past. Is your Trracer bolt adjustable?

Ill look for some (im nit cocker rich 😅).
I do have an adjustable bolt in there, but it wasnt adjusting much ... I need to take it apart anyway.

Im planning on making a better bracket so the side housing is not as wobbly.

Are you using CO2 or HPA? That makes a huge difference. Those old Nelson valves don't offer much in the way of volume.

I’m amazed it took so long to ask this question…

Trracers made velocity right out of the box with stock springs and a non-adjustable bolt. They only fail to make velocity when someone messes with it.

If it’s still sprung for CO2 then it probably works fine on CO2. If it’s sprung for CO2 and you’re using HPA it will not make velocity. If it’s sprung for HPA and you’re using CO2 it will shoot like 335.

Well, I surprise myself for not thinking of that 😜shooting HPA out of bottom line with a Chamelon kit ... So definitely starving the little thing 😅

I'll re-spring it and I might enlarge the valve and ports a bit ... See what we can do ...

I've always wondered if drilling a half inch hole in the rear ASA and adding a gauge adapter or something like that would increase the volume enough to perform well with light springing on HPA. I may try it on my Hammer one day.

I get about 250ish on my Hammer. Which is fine, because I usually break it out when a lot of kids are playing. So the lower velocity doesn't hurt them as much.
