All three Envys are SMAVed to the new standard. The hose setup ends up like this:

It also helps to file a smidge of bevel into one side of the grip nut to ease the final lockup of the SMAV bracket.

The adjustability of the Envy trigger frame makes it easy to dial in to the perfect minimal pull. These things are fast shooting, and have much less chuffing and short stroke weirdness than an Enmey trigger/valve. Can't wait to get these out to the field in a couple weeks!

Using the long hex nut to retain the valve is clever! Great idea

I got a clapped out Ion locally yesterday for 40 bucks.
Prototyping the bits for mech conversion while waiting on more black PETG. Just serviced the reg, which is the first Ion reg I have dug into. Damn this thing is simple! 4 seals!?! If it proves to be pressure stable, these might become my new staple.

I found the old Enfield P 17 stock I had stashed in the garage. Having thoughts. I would need to source a trigger guard, but I am seeing them cheap on Ebay. Must...resist...

Still waiting on some of the bits n bobs to finish it, but it is close. The reg is working properly, which is awesome. It feels slightly smaller and slightly heavier than the meched Envys.

I got out to the field for 3 hours today. I brought two of the newly SMAVed Envys and the Pro-Carbine. I used an Envy for a few games, and then lent them out to some renter kids just to see how they worked in extreme conditions. No ball breaks in multiple games. No issues. This setup runs fantastic and the trigger feel with the Envy double trigger is light years better than an Enmey trigger/valve. Can't recommend enough. The Pro-Carbine also ran perfectly while the kids had my Envys. I think I have reached the final configuration with it.

Parts from Clippard arrived today, so I could finish this meched Ion. Man, I love this thing. A Shocktech Superfly bolt is in there. The hardline carries air to the rear chamber. The lines inside the frame carry air through the SMAV to the QEV. I printed up a knurled ring to sit on top of the stock reg. That gives extra grip right between the index finger and the thumb. Feels great in hand. I need to find a no-rise feedneck, but this one is passable. I haven't had a chance to chrono it yet. I set it at 140psi and it passes the air in the hand test as proximate to proper operation. The stock trigger gives plenty of leverage on the SMAV and it shoots at least as quick as the Envy frames. Gonna make one more Envy frame setup and another Ion for a total of 6 SMAVed mechs of this family. I think they are starting to be my favorite to use. Now I can equip myself and 2 friends with two of these markers each for a day of play. These things just work.

Working on my 2nd meched Ion. For this one, I built a new Ion body with my no-rise feedneck from the Enmey/Envy/Vibe body. Got it right last night, so its time to start drilling parts.

These markers Smaved up are so damned good. Ran a case through the one on the left today. No ball breaks, no issues. Shot fantastic all day. I don't believe I have had a single ball break on this platform in the 4 ish cases I have run through the various types of this platform. The finger detents index perfectly. Chronoed it at the end of the day and velocity hadnt budged. I recently picked up a NIB 16" CP in .685. First use was today. I think this is an incredible barrel setup with any modern paint. .685 CP works perfectly on my Carbine too. Moving closer and closer to exclusivity with this platform.

Also....so much sweat. All the sweat. Didnt know so much sweat existed in my body. Playing in real summer is gonna suck.

Just got the 2nd Ion conversion finished. I went a little different on this one and used the 5/32 OD soft line through a support bracket built into the body. This should make breakdown a smidge easier. I am a bit worried that the smaller ID compared to the aluminum hardline might cause shootdown. If it does, I will change that out. It has a Shocktech Superfly bolt in it. I set it at 180 psi to start, and I will see how that chronos out tomorrow AM.

Been airing up the 2nd meched Ion periodically, and the press fit fittings on the outside have been intermittently leaking. I used the 5/32 pneumatic hose, and then made a brass and an aluminum hard line. All leaked intermittently. Its probably just old inner orings. I dug out some of the barbed fittings from the Vibe/Envy boards I decommissioned from cracked solenoids and got a well sealed runner. Planning on going up to the field Sunday and trying out these two Smaved Ions. Hopeful to get results as positive as the Vibe/Envy/Enmey bodied versions.

Got out to the field again today. Ran another case of paint through Smaved SP markers. Started with the first Ion conversion, which was my first outing with it. This worked perfectly for a few games until StaticShocked sprayed paint down the barrel in a most ungentlemanly way. His CS3 made me press every molecule of my being against the bunker to survive. I dropped the paint soiled Ion and picked up one of the Envy bodied versions. It also ran like a top through the rest of the day. I know I sound like a broken record, but I love these things. 100% my main rigs now.

Also....sweat. All the sweat. Sooooooo much sweat.

Edit: I forgot the only actual data discovered. The two meched Ions both have a Shocktech Superfly bolt. With a 16" CP One Piece barrel in .685, the guage is showing 155psi @280FPS on the big red chrono. Seems nice and low pressure for that velocity, and was very consistent on the chrony.

It was a very moist day. So moist... But fun was had by all it seemed! We got in about 8 games total with a decent sunday turnout for open play. As always, it was a pleasure talking and playing with you!

Today I got a chance to do some air pathway changes in one of my mech ions. This gave me a platform to test a Maxflo system I purchased recently from mercpb. After cleaning and all new seals, it seems very stable on output pressure. Might be a few weeks before I get on the field cause kids and calendar, but I will be using this one first game.
