Ninja Ball-Valve regulators are Dead?! Yes!

So I just got a new tank and Ninja reg in from ANS gear. And it has a pin valve and not the dumpy (imo) ball valve!

Its a pro V2 ultralight regulator.

I called up ANS to ask the scoop as I was quite pleasantly surprised, and they told me ninja is dumping the ball valve and all regs going forward will have a pin valve.

I've found the ball valves do not play nice with some asa's so to me this is great news. awesome!

The reg I purchased is aluminum with a brass adjustable collar in silver anno (same as the ball valve V2 ultralight with the pin being the only change I could see even when disassembled).

Ya this is something they started a few months ago. I only heard issues with using a POPs ASA, and those could be solved by using a lower output reg (not a big deal for PE guns, but if you're swapping the tank between guns then maybe). Anyway now they have SUPER flow.

I'm pretty much done with Ninja. Those stupid ball valves start leaking and the only thing you really have to replace is that tiny green plastic seal in front of the ball, but Ninja won't sell that part by itself in a multi pack so you have to buy the whole rebuild kit. I've done this three times now. That's BS. Next time I buy a tank or new reg it will be Immortal Air.

Yeah honestly this has been the case since about Jan 2020 when my store got our last shipment of Ninja stuff before we closed.

Yeah I got my 77/45 about a year ago and it was a pin valve as well, so I have one pro v2 with a pin valve, a pro v2 with a ball and a standard adjustable.

I know people have had issues with the ball but I never have

Same here, I have two ball valve Ninja tanks and they have worked fine in everything.

Jt Protium (and i assume its siblings tetra and quadra) won't work with a ball valve. i know from experience. .

Yeah ninja has been great. Its too bad the ball valve got to have such a bad reputation, since it was done to be an upgrade in sealing capability and durability.

            Glad to see the change.

Props to ninja for listening to their customers though

Agreed, every ball valve reg I have had has developed a leak.

Not sure if you can purchase just the pin valve bonnet as an upgrade yet in Aluminum "ultralight" - I do know though that you can purchase the steel version to change/upgrade your ball valve.

docfire offers the steel pin valve bonnets here:

The NEW PRO PIN bonnet replaces the older style "ball bonnet"  This new style address an issue with the old style not working with all ASA ON/OFF Pins.  PRO V2 Version  Note if your "Ball" style is working fine with your setup you DO NOT need this option.   Made in the USA

I actually purchased one from docfire a while back and it came with the pin, spring and everything needed to convert a Pro V2 from Ball to pin. I was less excited that it was the steel version. afaik, the aluminums are not yet avail anywhere standalone as a conversion yet.

Awesome, I was about to ask if these are available. My ball style still functions fine but this will be good to have on hand.
