    Paintball and the Paranormal

I don't mean your big scenario games with props and costumes.
I am curious if anyone has heard stories, or has any of their own. Weird, unexplainable things happening while playing paintball.

I once shot a guy going into a bunker, and when he popped up, he was CLEAN. I couldn't believe it.

Once I went to the field to play paintball, and it was completely abandoned. well, I mean there were refs and a guy in the proshop to take my money, but the fields were a literal GHOST TOWN!

I'm not sure this is going how you planned

I had an SFT, worked at home, leaked at the field, worked at home afterward.

          can’t explain that.

One time I clearly hit someone, I saw the paint fly everywhere on his goggles. I was quite pleased as it was a great shot. He ducked behind the bunker and then when he emerged the paint was GONE !! It must have been a glitch in the matrix.

On more than one occasion I've had a guy commit to a price, meeting time, and place for a gun of his I agreed to buy. I showed up and the other guy never did. Alien abduction for sure...

OK, I'll bite. Perhaps not quite paranormal, but at least quite unlikely.

I have been shot right into my barrel - several times actually. Not on the barrel, and not a ball that has clipped the barrel. The ball has managed to find its way straight into my barrel without leaving the slightest speck of paint outside my gun.
Well, how could I tell, you might ask. Good question, glad you asked. It was the same pattern each time. I noticed my shots going crazy, realized that I had paint in the barrel. Thought it was odd, since my gun practically never chops paint. Cleared the barrel. Noticed - "wait a minute - I don't have green paint..." Guess I'm out then... Has happened to me three or four times.

I'm not sure you were out. I have always heard you are out if a paintball hits your and leaves a mark ON you or your equipment... Not IN you or your equipment.

I have had this happen to me once, and have confirmed that I have done it to another player twice. It's really cool how the ball makes it all the way down the barrel and into the breach before breaking on contact with the ball waiting to be fired.

I've always wondered if a closed bolt gun would catch the incoming ball, since you can seal your palm on an unported barrel and fire and the ball will stall out in the middle and not harm you.

I have had this happen as well. It's pretty surprising when you discover what happened.

There are the stories of Sgt. Splatter, condemned to wander the deepest, darkest corners of the woodsball fields in New Hamster searching for opponents until he is finally eliminated.
And there is another tale in New England about the "Ghost in the Woods" that I've actually run across several times. Able to appear and vanish, only to reappear somewhere else. I've heard his name is Jeff, but most folk tales refer to him as the "Shootist".

I know that my local field is haunted. I can't count the number of times the whistle blew, and I was hit by a ball out of nowhere, before I could take a dozen steps. Since there were no opponents anywhere near me, the only logical explanation is that I was shot by the ghosts of players long past.

(... I need to do that up as a Whiteboard Halloween storyline.... )

Happens in the woods, too. I'll find a good hiding spot, overlooking a well-travelled trail, and wait. Then, even though I never moved or gave the slightest sign I was there, a ghost ball materializes out of nowhere on my goggles. There's no opponent anywhere to be seen, so it has to be ghosts.

That or one of those damn giggling bushes I keep running across.

How I could imagine the Halloween storyline playing out: The "ghost" that keeps shooting Doc is Doc himself on a different day, trying to warn the viewer's Doc about the temporal disruptions his next experiment is going to cause. Doc catches on when he realizes that the only player who could have made a particular shot was himself.

First, I appreciate that the guy with the x-files avatar cued the x-files theme.

So an old buddy of mine had an outlaw field at a relatives house that we would play at. And campout at. And drink at. You know. Anyway, while camping out once, I remember a few of us noticing an awful lot of tiny glowing white dots out in the darkness. Like, A LOT. We have fireflies here and all that, but these weren't moving. They almost looked like eyes, but they didn't seem to be in pairs like eyes would be. I have no idea what they were, but it was creepy.

Also while partying/camping, it was probably 3 in the morning, we're all sitting around a campfire, and over the course of a few minutes, the horizon became really bright and red, like the forest had caught fire. And it glowed that way for probably an hour. Lit up much of the sky. Then it dimmed down and went back to blackness until dawn. I can't explain that one either. There's nothing really around the property except for a few condos and vast forest. Miles and miles away there's a compost facility, but that's about it.

But nothing ever happened while playing there. That's the best I've got.

X-files is one of my all-time favorite shows. I just re-watched the whole series and both movies about two years ago, in sequence. Because I'm a nerd. Lol. I'm one of those guys that stays up late listening to Art Bell reruns on the AM radio. lol

No, not that I can remember. But there were a lot of oil wells around. I'm pretty sure the property we played in had a pump on it. Or just outside of the property. I'm not sure.

I took a paintball to the junk and spent the next few minutes talking to Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. Unfortunately he only spoke Russian, and I was stuck speaking Korean (the game took place only a month after I returned form a one-year deployment). I think he was talking about math, but it's not the universal language if you don't already know it, I guess. Then he yelled "eedyoht!" and hit me up side the head with a balalaika. I woke up with a ref standing over me. All I could say was "proverka kraski..."

The ref helped me to my feet and told me to sit the next game out.

I played a few scenarios with a friend and his buddies. His buddies were the type to sit back and dump all of their paint at targets that were well out of range. I hadn't once seen them shoot at anybody that they posed a threat of hitting. Naturally, they tended not to get hit either and during my walks back to respawn they must have done some crazy stuff, because after every day they would brag about how they got 40 eliminations each. To this day I wish I could have witnessed their prowess but they always saved it for when I wasn't around.
