I just had a fun one.

bought a gog enmey about a year and a half ago, the gun was in good shape, and even better it came with a 16” deadly wind straight thru barrel

fast forward to last weekend , and i was shooting my minicocker in the morning, tried to use my micro mag in the afternoon ( had feeding issues) so i grabbed the enmey.

shot fine in the games, and then broke a ball emptying out my hopper end of day at target range

threw all gear in bag to head home, intending to clean it all at home.

at home, i get my deadly wind out , give it a rinse and run a squeegee through it. On removing my squeegee, part of my barrel comes out with it! I’m thinking “oh crap, i broke my barrel!”, have a closer look, and see it is actually a Freak insert!!

it was the black .693 size, and i never noticed it in the barrel for over a year, and the guy selling never mentioned it was freak ready barrel

I’ll take a surprise Freak Ready deadly wind carbon fibre barrel all day long

I tend to throw stuff in the closet per say and then re find it way later by chance or because i now require it.
Recently it was a agd flatline reg
Before that it was a pair of invert knee pads

Bought an SHP reg off EBay and finally received it. The seller included a dye microfibre and “pew-pew” barrel cover for free!

Recently bought a basket case A-5 and when reassembling notice part of the trigger frame springs were missing and there was an odd rod in the parts... turns out it’s an older style egrip, the kind you need to take apart the entire frame to put a battery in. Hurray for happy surprises!

Several years ago I bought an SP1 with a bunch of extras, including a Halo Too, remote line, harness, bunch of old paint, etc. I sold most of it, and threw the hopper into my general paintball box. Probably a year later, I was digging thru the box and found the Halo at the bottom and completely forgot I had it and where I got it from. Took me a minute to figure it out.

Won an A5 with extras on eBay for 60 bucks, poor picture, description said used and left in storage for years blah blah blah. Box arrives, I’m expecting the worst, dump everything on the ground to sort and the gun was maybe used in the back yard to tag fence posts. Plastic still on the nameplate, no paint crust anywhere, no breech wear, came with a bag, Tippmann gun kit, good pods, flatline, solid collapsible stock, all stock parts that came off the gun, crappy mask with dead foam also didn’t look used. Aired up with no leaks and cycled fine. Just replaced the detent and got rid of the stock.

Is this a thing? I had a similar situation with a moving give away from a friend. They said come take this tub or it's all going to the trash. Couldn't have that happen, so I ran out and grabbed it. After a bunch of sorting, I started looking through the few markers and found a newer black m98 that has the picatinny rails on it. Seemed completely unmolested! Same situation, the clear plastic protectors were still over the name plates and everything! I've been selling off stuff from this bin but I kept this and built it up for rediculousness at magfed games. (I don't subscribe into the milsim side of magfed, but that's a different story...)

Your A5 story reminded me of an A5 surprise story i had forgotten about

a couple summers ago i found a guy selling a used ninja 68 4500 out of hydro tank for $50 , and for another $30 Cdn he also had a bag of parts he called “ most of an A5”

so what the heck, i figured i would grab that too. I put the bag away for a couple months then decided to see what it would take to bring the a5 back to life.

one rear hammer insert, a mainspring, and a couple a5 push pins later i had me a nice shape fully functional a5 !

and to the point of this thread, there were some nice upgrades hiding in the pile: a TechT upgraded cyclone piston, TectT squishy paddles, and TectT upgraded cyclone ratchet. There was even an Ornge upgrade bolt hiding inside!

now i’ve taking that $30 A5 and for no rhyme or reason, sank way too much money upgrading the heck out of it for the heck of it, but that’s a topic for another thread!

I found a Cooper-T Better Bolt (his undershot bolt) in my paintball closet a couple weeks ago. I can't for the life of me remember where this thing came from. Did I snag it on eBay? Did it come in a mystery box? Did Velcor materialize it in my closet as a reward for some dark deed? No idea.
