    Anyone use one of these tanks?

    Late night Amazon browsing. Came across these little carbon tanks with a regulator. Anyone use one before? What about re-hydro? They're intriguing.

    Ive looked at them a few times, but always backed out.
    They dont seam to be DOT stamped so it may be difficult to find someone who would fill them in the US ...

      I would more worry field would not fill them ...
      In the US pressure vessels regulation fall under the DOT ... they make the rules and want to have their stamp (taxes) on everything.

      True. I'm considering picking one up and getting it immediately tested to have a legitimate stamp on it. Sure I'm paying a premium for the size, but I don't mind.

      Im not sure what is the process to get a pressure vessel DOT stamped, you might want to check in with the re-certification facility.

    To get a DOT "stamp" for a pressure cylinder will require an application to DOT by the MFG/Importer with relevant proof of testing under the requirements of certification labelling per 49.CFR.178.X ( I do not remember the exact section). This is not done by the end user, and I have never seen a provision for the end user to do so. This is pretty simple to do between UN/ISO certs and DOT by the mfg given that the UN/ISO certs are more stringent then DOT but it is not free or easy to do. This one of the reason the First Strike small composite bottles (15 CUIN) are not cheap. The above is for UN/ISO bottles not the CE certifications. I get a little confused between CE and UN/ISO requirements in the EU so not sure whether a CE is synonymous with UN/ISO or not. You do not have to have a DOT stamp on a pressure vessel but do need the country approval stamp as part of the permanent label. So I would avoid these bottles as being too much hassle then they are worth right now.

    I would just wait for the First Strike bottle. Those eBay/ Amazon bottles look way to sketchy for me to use.
