HPA Tank question

I use 68/4500 tanks on my Automag and Autococker setups and I use a 50/4500 peanut with my PPS Blazer. 68 ci is the biggest I have ever owned and mostly what I have been used to. I am considering a 77 ci or 80 ci for one of my mags, my Tac One setup. Is the extra capacity worth it? Thoughts and opinions?

Do you carry enough paint with you to shoot to the point where you run out of air? Are you do you routinely run out of air? where I play we just fill up every game and unless I forget might be the only time I would run out of air.

if you're comfortable with the length of pull if the tank is longer the gun will be in a different spot would be a downside for me. I have to use a peanut with pump guns otherwise otherwise I'm reaching too far forward.

You can get 80ci that are almost the same length as a standard 68ci. Depending on how much paint you shoot will determine if changing tanks is worth it for you.

On ansgear, Hk sells just the 80/4500 bottle, so if you have a reg that saves a little. Aerolite I believe is an empire brand tank. The 80 is basically a fatter 68 tank, maybe a little longer. First strike sells 77,88, and 100ci tanks. 77 looks to be close to a 68 while 88 looks more longer like my ninja 90/4500.

Do you want a bigger tank for more shots, or you want a longer setup. The ninja 90 and the First stike 88 and 100 would definitely be longer.

If you are using an older style 68, then I would highly recommend switching to a 77SL. I swore by the 56/45 bottles years ago, but I tried a 77 for a day and will never use anything smaller again.

O! I have experience with just this

If you are using a somewhat standard 68/45 and are happy with it my advise us to look into the ninja sl2 77/45

The sl2 77 is the same external dimensions as ninja (and most other companies) "standard" 68 tanks

I put my sl2 77 in a dye rhino tank cover that is made for a 68. Fits great. So I get a larger ci tank, that is lighter than a standard 68 and fits in the same tank cover.

The only real down side is the price tag on the sl2 tanks

First thing is to figure out how much paint you want to shoot. I always go with the smallest tank I can use for a given setup. I like to match my air capacity to my paint load out. Unless you are carrying 11+ pods or your setup is a gas hog. Anything over a 68ci is really over kill IMO.

The SL2-77 is a great option for markers that are not the most efficient. But if you are not shooting your 68ci empty regularly I would just stick with that.

A lot of people went for bigger tanks because Autocockers came back into popularity with people using them in mech tournaments you need the big tanks to push large amounts of paint shot during long 10 man matches. Then the Emek/M170R came along and made those big tanks pointless.

So unless you want to shoot a ton of paint with not very efficient marker I would just stick with your 68ci.

I don't necessarily agree with this for a few reasons, the biggest one is there is no flexibility with it.

Going to a big game? Want to shoot more paint? Too bad

Field only filling to 3k today? Put some pods back, you can't shoot them

Got a new marker that's not as efficient? Can't carry your normal paint load

I basically only use 68s or 77s not for anything to do with shot counts (too much) but more to do with their physical size and where my markers are positioned on my body

If a 112ci would fit the same way and weigh the same I'd be using that instead. More air gives you more options and also allows you to bring more air home with you after the day

Thanks Trbo you hit the nail on the head with how I was thinking. The last few times I have been playing the fields were not giving good fills. Also sometimes on Scenario games it’s easy to stage extra paint near the spawn point but not always so easy to have extra air staged, so less trips to the air station can be the difference between making a resplendent or sitting in the dead zone.

Yeah I'd do a 77/45 sl2 as long as your budget will allow. Get a pro v2 reg on it and you will have the ability to adjust the output pressure to whatever your mag likes to run on
