I feel better than i did yesterday at this time, robotic laparoscopic is 3 holes around my stomach.. it definitely feels like someone was rooting around in there.. but im positive this could be worse..

sneezing and coughing sucks a lot. i look forward to the day i can try a decent attempt at blowing my nose..

Glad you're feeling better and things went well, but might take a solid week before your there.

okay, so when the surgeon said "i have some operators that get out there after a week, and that makes me nervous, but in 2, you should be fine"

i thought he was full of shit, now im not sure..

i woke up today feeling pretty "normal" there's times where i lie on the couch and forget anything is wrong with me..

I have coughed today.. and it didn't hurt.

more than anything i just feel like i have "a stitch in my side" in that area..

I've definitely had one for years. I just made it worse the other day at work. I did make an appointment to get it checked out, finally. I've been living with it for over 10 years.

i know different types of hernias affect differently, i was quite sick of my inguinal hernia after a couple of weeks, i couldn't imagine a year

I'll find out exactly what kind it is in about 2 weeks. But it's a small tear about 3 inches from my hip bone. It hasn't bothered me until this last year, and definitely now that I have made it worse. I've been hanging drywall the whole time, not sure how it took this long to get worse.

Edit: it looks like it would be an Inguinal hernia

Then I will tell you the same thing that my anesthesiologist friend told me, don't be afraid to be younger doctor, robotic laproscopic has the best recovery times, and try to get somebody with some experience with the procedure

Ive had 2, recovery wasnt horrible. I dont do any medication so it may have been rougher than others, dont believe them when they tell you "you wont feel it after a while" i still feel it sometimes. It burns and feels like the nerves are tring to reattach lol. Honestly way better than not getting it fixed

13th day update, post op was today, he said he was in and out in 11 minutes...

I am released.. green flag racing...

0 opiates besides the fentanyl they gave me as a parting gift..

10 days of methocarbamol and tylenol 3 times a day, and gabapentin for night time.

3 holes above my navel that are gonna require a lot of massage and man do they feel weird

            robotic laparoscopic surgery is amazing

I find out my surgery date on Thursday

Just confirmed that I also have an inguinal hernia and someone will reach out regarding surgery. The doc said it was OK if I still play hockey in the meantime.

I have had surgery twice for abdominal hernias.

first one was along an old suture line from a past surgery that needed repair, had a mesh patch over that

second was 2 years after that, just 2 years ago, that received a mesh liner over the entire abdominal area, seems my former tobacco use had a negative effect on the first procedure

when I sneeze, depending on where in my chest the sneeze originates from, can feel like my guts are getting ripped out

surgeon advised me it will be like that for quite some time as being out of shape and over weight doesn't help the situation
