K- Frames round or square conversion?

As the title states. What do YOU prefer?

Furthermore; What grip style has more of an aftermarket?

I cant decide from pictures, but Sergison is working on a batch of K frames. When inquiring about buying one, he asked me Round, or Square conversion. I seriously cant make up my mind. I could go either either way, but I wanted to make a poll.

I think it mostly comes down to aesthetics. I like how the square looks, and it feels like it would be better for staying in the hand.

You can get squared off grips for a round grip but not the other way around.

I love how the square grip feels. It fits good in my hand.

I wear large to XL gloves, my hand is probably pretty average in size, and the square grip fills it well I tried to take pictures for reference.

Or maybe I’m confused as to what the question is. Does he make an actual square frame and round frame version or is he just offering you a square conversion grip for a round frame.

This I dont know. His exact question is, " do you want round or square rubber grips? ".

Maybe they are all round, and its just conversion grips in which case I didnt understand. I figured he milled the frame round or square so it was a bigger decision. If they are all round, than Ill likely just tell him either or, whatever is in stock.

So square conversion is typically a type of grip applied to a round frame. You’ve got round butt frames and square butt frames. As Lachance pointed out, you can put conversion grips on a round to get the square feel, but not the other way around. I prefer the feel of squares, but both of my frames are round butts, because they’re cheaper and I slap conversion grips on them.

              Ok, Dan just replied.

He only makes round frames, and either puts square conversion grips on the frames or round grips.

              Which is a win win.

Ill leave the poll up for folk to vote, but its really a choice of what grips you prefer as of now. I also want others to learn about Sergison's process. He did say black anodized are TENTATIVELY a month or more out. He needs to fulfill 12 orders before its worth sending the batch out for anodizing. So he would prefer to sell them raw for $170 shipped.

Im buying a raw one as a result.

              Hope this helps everyone.

So is raw aluminum. I'm cool with a raw aluminum to start as I am kinda breaking the bank to get that.

Hmmmm, I think Im gonna sell a mag this week to buy more k frames.

                Square from my research.

Round doesnt have that flat corner on the bottom.

Those are walnut grips are made to fit a K-frame round butt but they have a flat bottom. I bought them when I put that gun together.

Round vs square butt has nothing to do when how the grips look are on the outside. It is only the mounting style inside the grip.

I dont know if made and square frames but he easily could have.

he made round frames and sold em with "square conversion" grips.

from the outside it is almost impossible to tell if its a square frame or a converted round frame except from the back on grip designs with open back straps.

smith and wesson stopped making square frames quite a while now, so square conversion grips are much easier to get than actual square grips.

on a massive heavy thing like a sheridan a square grip is most appropriate. The round grip is mostly for adding concealability as the hard corner of the square frame is usually what is going to poke out through a shirt or jacket and was rounded off to prevent that.

proportionally most round grips look weird on revolvers over 4 inches but it would come down to a practical preference on a real gun. On a big sheridan its a no brainer in favor of a square grip for me, conversion or otherwise.

Most likely its just a grip choice not a frame choice. Choose square grips on your round frame.

Yeah, Dan clarified that qfter I created the post. I have officially sold enough to buy the aluminum frame I agreed to. Just waiting for him to confirm they are complete.

I am going to keep selling til I can also get a brass one... cuz why not?

Now we're off K/L frames, mr73 with nill grips, also an example of "Square Conversion" variety as this is also a round frame gun with big square chunkers on it.

Here are some closed back no finger groove nill grips. They are K/L round to square conversion grips so would work on a sergi frame. Just another good grip example.
