    Silicone spray for pb applications?

Hey there. I was farting around at work & found where we keep the silicone spray. I'm now wondering if this is useful for paintball applications, specifically in blowbacks. Or is this something that eats o-rings? Are there pros & cons to it, or is this something to be avoided altogether?

No problem sticking with blowback/sewing machine/air tool oil. I'm just more curious than anything.

Oftentimes they have solvents in them that eat urethane (buna has excellent solvent resistance). WD40 is a solvent that dries quickly and leaves a thin coat of oil (primarily for rust protection).

The local field used to 'maintain' guns by unloading a can of WD40 into the breach (or the hammer on Tippmanns). The gun would shoot well enough when the WD40 was saturated enough to stay wet, but once it dried after a game or two it was back to sputtering. On their STBBs the WD40 in the breach would dissolve all the paint, dirt and aluminum powder and deposit it in the frame and sear slot. It then dried rock hard.

I would avoid I certainly don't have any exact experience with it and markers but I would think that the silicone May prevent things like the valve stem from moving freely

I have only used silicone on steel parts as corrosion resistance in paintball. Black Oxide on steel hardware is pretty porous and holds silicone pretty well. Other then that not used silicone on PB markers.

idk enough about the silicone spray lube but i do know that most of the devices where i work have very specific lubricant requirements.
the centrifuge trundle takes a different grease than the lid lock and hinges.
the operating table slide mechs take a different grease than the above.
the ventilator takes a different grease as well.

some grease is better in vacuum applications, some is specific to high speed applications, and some is specific to pressure. most applications have a specific grease to use.
