Each version had so many quirks that eventually they nuked the poppit idea and went fully spool valve....which has its own quirks. While I was sponsored I only used the marqs because they wanted me too, I generally ran older timmys unless I knew there was a photographer at the event
I don't like working on BL anything really. I did the legacy tech thing for a few years and learned just how "quirly" they all are. A lot of times Bob made changes halfway through a production run so it wasn't good enough to know which version of a marker you had b you needed to know if it was an early or late model, or maybe even mid. It always seemed to me that stuff like room for the eye wires was an afterthought. I really think the reason you need dow55 on a lot of his stuff is because the tolerances are too loose not any intentional design choice.

But yeah this bolt is just one example. There's these things called threads that have been around forever and work really well but Bob decided not to use them.

So when the marq was first released the bolt was threaded on every knucklehead used vice grips to remove the bolt and he had to change out a few bodies and he went to the Gen one quick release bolt. The whole platform was a disaster up until about the closer model. Even the hybrid version The Mummy is quirky as a bastard.

Yeah, Bob had never done enough testing in my opinion, that seems to have carried on after he sold the company as well and that's why BL ends up with all these weird things like this quick change bolt. They were fixing a problem that should never have been a problem in the first place

I agree with many of your points.. I remember my shop doing a large order of victories right as they came out and once we received them he dropped the supercharger engine.. all victories came with them but the ones we had JUST received he wanted to charge to “upgrade” even though the prices were the same between the old version and the new version…

but that being said, I remember an NPPL event where there was a cold snap and supplied paint was too brittle, everyone’s markers were turned into paint sprayers except my victory… never had breakage issues, no matter how cold or inclement the weather

Alrighty, with those discussion aside, back to taking stuff apart!

So moving on to the eyes and detents. As it turns out this has upgraded 4C laser eyes!

In searching for a replacement bolt tip I saw the eye upgrades and the red board is apparently laser eye. And this is confirmed with a red glow when the trigger is pulled.

Checking out the detent, this has a metal detent that looks like it was beat to hell. In test firing it seemed to work well at least.

And the on the opposite side of the body the offset feedneck covers the eyes and has to detent. This is the offset feedneck:

Now when test firing I was experiencing shootdown, so be a good idea to clean up the HPR.

So the HPR is located in the false mag. You remove the large bolt at the bottom that secures the mag to the body.

With the bolt removed you should be able to just pull the reg out, away from the body. Years of excess live made this stick pretty good, but after some positive encouragement it came out:

And here is what the top of the reg looks like, where it connects to the body:

Now time to clean up all the excess lube and rebuild the HPR.

First step remove the HPR adjustment screw:

And the use the Allen key push the reg internals out.

A quick cleaning and replacing some o-rings and show be good to go.
