I don't like working on BL anything really. I did the legacy tech thing for a few years and learned just how "quirly" they all are. A lot of times Bob made changes halfway through a production run so it wasn't good enough to know which version of a marker you had b you needed to know if it was an early or late model, or maybe even mid. It always seemed to me that stuff like room for the eye wires was an afterthought. I really think the reason you need dow55 on a lot of his stuff is because the tolerances are too loose not any intentional design choice.
But yeah this bolt is just one example. There's these things called threads that have been around forever and work really well but Bob decided not to use them.
