    Scrap pistol build

After learning I possessed enough scrap tube and components to assemble a marker, I decided to make it happen. What resulted is a hybrid “kpgp” I now fondly refer to as the Scrapalope.

The barrel is composed of several small rings of scrap tube, held together by the outer sleeves. Transfer port is enlarged to 5/16”. The barrel body had to be modified to allow kp bolt use on pgp lowers. BB hole placement was retained, but transfer hole location and lug channel had to be modified. A new lug location was also drilled and tapped on the bolt. The bolt tip oring now seals on the end of an 8” xl freak insert, which ends flush with the business end of the barrel. A nylon tipped 8-32 set screw held in place by a soldered brass nut provides the insert retention.

I have a few details to add still, including a removable feedtube. It’s a lot of fun single shot, but I want a little capacity for running it as a side arm.

Oh worth mentioning there’s a new phantom valve spring at the heart of this build

and thanks to JeeperCreeper, this lower tube scrap needed a new nutsert and he came through like a champ.

My main spring is the same. I need a battery for my chrono, but the bark test tells me we’re good. I got 30 shots on a 12 gram today. I was shooting grafitti platinum through a .679 insert, and it was 44° and raining.

The nutsert kit from Harbor freight has worked for me in the past if you ever need to replace one.

Added a brass pull to the bolt today. I pounded some feedtube scrap to flare the tip, set in an 1868 Indian cent. I went with the ‘68 because it’s a Wild West era year and also, paintball. The coin had a bit of pitting, I like to think it’s from black powder. I sanded the brass with a 60 grit belt. It’s got a decent grip to it from the rough sand. Roughed the inner tube and bolt face with a dremel. Put in a ball of epoxy putty and clamped the brass into place. Cut off the squirty bits and I’m very happy with the results.

Top notch. Blood, sweat, and tears in that build for sure.
