Custom-length pump arm- what can it be made from?

I'm wanting to make a shorter pump arm for my KP2.
I assume that all that would need to be done is to thread one end and hammer a 90 degree angled section into the other.
Is there some type of rod that's commonly-available and used for this sort of thing?

3/16" rod. I've used brass and mild steel... you can try SS but it's a PITA to work with.

I just made one from brass 5 minutes ago. The trick is to anneal the brass before bending and tapping, it makes it a lot easier to work with. I've also used SS and mild steel, and as Jordan said, SS sucks to bend.

I like how PPS did their pump arms without the 90 degree bend but instead use a small aluminum block and a detented pin.

Thanks Jordan, I actually have a brass 0.670 XL from JC on the way and I am saving the rest for trading fodder for my for sale thread coming up soon (next week????) I might hit you up for the Titanium barrel it would be quite Ironic to put a super light Titanium barrel on a Brass marker

Your bolt is also threaded, unless it's been drilled out - KP2 bolts thread onto that little 90° piece on the pump arm - so you can either drill the bolt out to 3/16" in that spot, or thread your new pump rod there as well. (Also 10-32.)

So I am getting ready to do a custom SS rod bend for a Phantom build, is this something you guys would be interested in having access to? Funny thing is years ago I did some custom rods for Kenny (Punisher) to fix an offset issue with a run of his early under-cocking kits. I would have no problem doing custom bent rods for you all I enjoy seeing your builds. My jig is built just need to mount it and receive some rod that was ordered.

Are there any immediate drawbacks of drilling out the linkage hole in the bolt?

Not really - that's how Pseries bolts are, they have a small setscrew to retain the pump arm instead.

Thanks for your help, everyone! Home Depot had the rod I needed for around $4 for 3 feet, which was much more than I needed.
I ended up shortening the rod by a little over an inch and a half, which makes a big difference in how natural it feels to hold and pump the gun with no stock.
I did not drill out the bolt so both ends had to be threaded. I probably should have torched and bent the rod before threading it, but chasing the threads with the the dye fixed any damage the hammer made.
Also, I cut way more threads into the forward section of the rod to give myself more flexibility in adjusting where the pump sits.

Now I'm wondering how much it would cost to have someone shorten the lower tube so that the speed knob didn't protrude beyond the barrel.
