-i need to 3D print some "sight rail" inserts for my inception scout body so i can affix an Izon without worrying about the set screws marring the body

-i have an 86 frame i need to get T-slotted, and then i need to send that and the raw body kit i have out to anno

thankfully that project is functional as is for the time being.

-then i need to someday find another CCM frame, and have a pump arm made to fit my mutant left feed, and then that will be useable for once in its life

at the moment, side project spending is reduced to $0, and that includes playing.. so it will be a bit before i can get going again. (but at least that gives me time to wait for the prices to get back down to normal again,, if they ever do)

it was all fine and great till I started measuring things, the width of the depression is like .1, and its about as deep, I find, when you are dealing with things on that small of a scale its gonna break no matter what, and some of the pieces would have to be impossibly thin for FDM plastic to be anything other than a nice thought

remembering an article from way back when the IZON first debuted, the reviewer was concerned about the mount marring up the sight rail on his cocker, so he used some thin sheetmetal to sit between the screw heads and the rail
i dont have any sheetmetal, so i used some aluminum 425 tape i have and tightened gently

as a thought, if you have any thin sheet metal handy, you shouldnt have any issues trimming and bending it to fit the recess, you just have to make sure its lined up... now im thinking i should go buy some sheetmetal.... or some nylon tipped grubscrews...

yes i have been scared to take the sight off and check...

Apparently Simon tried to get armson to make some mounts for these, but i think that didn't get into production so ya. I thought about going with tipped screws, but honestly id rather have something break away than damage the body with a screw.

Just finished this today and it dry fires and ejects shells, going to take it out for a trial run this weekend It's a cam870 mk2, and I've drilled and tapped the bolt to accept a remote line and dremeled out the body to make room for the nipple while the bolt is moving. This should hopefully allow me to address the velocity issues by using regulated HPA, as well as the limited fill capacity. If all works well, I'll post a more detailed description.

Clever! I had one of these a few years ago, but the MK1 version. This would totally solve some problems with these.

Thanks! Yeah it worked great on the field, I'm currently in the process of mounting a female stabilizer and ICD lever changer under the stock and cutting down the spring in the bolt so I can run it off 12 grams and more easily control velocity.

        • Fix the trigger wobble and pre-travel on the double-finger trigger cut CF frame I just got from superman and slapped on my mag. A couple of washers of the appropriate size and thickness ought to cut down on the side-to-side play. It looks like I may be able to tap a hole at the forward end of the trigger slot for a set screw to adjust the pre-travel. My other thought was to rig a very light spring somewhere to hold the trigger back against the trigger rod, but I worry that might increase the tendency for me to short stroke it.
          • Edited to add: And let me be clear that I'm not knocking what I got off superman. It's a stock AGD CF frame with the trigger guard cut and a metal two finger trigger installed, precisely what I asked for. And pretty well done for what it is. Some play in the trigger is to be expected, as even the OEM single finger triggers have what today would be considered significant pre-travel.
        • Fix or replace the cracked feedneck on my 68 Special. Had just gotten the damned thing working again, bought a 3d printed hopper adapter and everything, when the cast aluminum decided it'd had enough. Waiting for Bacci to finish his website overhaul so I can order a replacement breech/feedneck. Since I''ll be relying on the new hopper adapter anyway, I'm considering just brazing the aluminum back together and gluing the adapter into the feedneck with epoxy or JB Weld or similar.
        • The big one: Figuring out a cost-efficient and reliable way of putting a clamping feedneck onto my Trilogy Autococker. The Trilogy Comp has the old tension fit stovepipe feedneck that is molded on as part of the body casting. Shaving a hopper feedneck down to fit and securing with tape mostly worked this past weekend, but it was a nuisance and a reminder of why clamping feednecks have become the standard. My current plan of attack is to cut the upper part of the existing feedneck off, down to the thicker part of the sidewall, tap the stump for 13/16-20 threads, and buy a threaded Empire feedneck boss from Nummech. I've got a cheap replacement double clamping MiniGS feedneck that I could then slap on there. Or maybe just buy a thread-in clamping feedneck and attach it straight to the gun, if I'm going to tap the thing anyway. Even having to buy a threading tap for a one-off project has got to be cheaper than having a machine shop mill a boss for a clamping feedneck.
I hope that's the end of the list for a good long while. I made an effort to give the mechs some trigger time this past Saturday (felt guilty about neglecting them in favor of my electros for several months) and I learned something about myself: While I love tinkering in the garage, I hate it at the field. And while my Automag was the epitome of "it just works" reliability by the standards of the day back in the 90s, my Dye Rize CZR has taken over that title within my collection.

or instead of cutting and drilling and tapping the trilogy feedneck, just send it to me to have it cut for an empire spec feedneck boss. Then you don't have to worry about buying an expensive tap or worry about the how clean the threads come out.

Seems like I finished up all my projects so now I'm just on the hunt for more headaches. Here's what I have so far:

          1. Diadem. Just got it and it's leaking somewhere so I'll hunt that down.
          2. Shocker CVO. The reg started creeping this season so I'll have to figure that out
          3. Autococker. Now this is the real project. I'm trying to hunt down either a 98 STO or a 2003 prostock to build up a new 'cocker for this next season.

No real projects on the go. I mean the Mags are always evolving/reproducing (do have a good chunk of a third Mag awaiting funds for the parts).

And I have a bunch of A5 stuff that I’m considering building up another Flatline RT beast (but generally I use these at big games for final battles and then hang em up until I decide to sell (so kinda a waste). Also be contemplating building a bolt action marker of sorts and rigging it up into a stock I have laying around (or stuffing the aforementioned third mag build into that stock) But these are all just ideas no true project as of late.

Last week I swapped out the MacDev Sonic body from this build...

Then put most of the bits onto this Inception Kryptonite body along with a couple new items.

Here is a video I made with it today. Next I'll share my Phantom once it's completed.

Just bought a new camera that also does video (yeah, I'm stuck in the last decade ~ or further).
The idea is to make an "unboxing" type video dragging out all the stuff from the old Marshals paintball museum out of storage.

I figure I can get it all out and on display, then get it packed up again over a weekend. Yeah, there's that much stuff. Close to if not over 100 markers, a quarter ton of magazines, boxes of masks, hoppers and accessories....None of which (or very little) is less than 20 years old.

Wish me luck, because I have no idea what I'm doing. Probably need editing software and watch some tutorials about it.

Is your camera capable of using an external microphone instead of the built-in one? That can make a huge difference. Mediocre video with good audio will be perceived by the viewer as better quality than good video with crappy audio. If you're going to be mostly behind the camera or facing the same way as the camera while talking about the objects, get a decent lavalier microphone.

An even better solution, and one that doesn't depend on your camera having an external mic port, is to record the audio separately. You could do it entirely at your desk as a post-shooting voiceover, or record it in real time as you are handling the items. Again, a decent lavalier mic would be very helpful. Digital audio recorders of acceptable quality are available pretty cheaply; just plug in a good mic. Your best bet is probably to record the audio simultaneously, so that it is easier to match to what is shown on screen. If possible, try to capture the audio both on the camera and a separate recorder for redundancy. If the camera audio is good you can just run with that, but if not then you can dub over using the standalone audio.

Good tips. Thank you! After looking at the camera, it does not seem to have any ports for a mic. It may not even record audio.
I'll check it out soon, for practice.

There are some great USB audio interfaces for computers. I use a Roland Quadcapture for work. If you have a good computer you can use the video cam directly with the laptop, so it’s a lot easier to record everything. Even something simple like a Game Capture HD works well.

New sniper project time. Passed along a CCM S5 prototype body build I almost finished, but decided to sell off so I could use funds for other gear I wanted + enough left for another cool project.
Just picked this up from here, and have started the overhaul process. Got it mainly for the body! It's really nice. Keeping stock valve and hammer, have the "balanced" springs plus a sealing jam nut and socket head VASA screw from autocockerparts.com, all parts I order any time I start a new build. 6 hole CCM IVG, stock cocking rod. This came with a composite slider that had some really weird guts, but already have a Benchmark on the way plus a new plate/springs. Already had a roller sear and trigger shoe to use.
Keeping the pump kit it came with, which is an early unmarked CCM and the return spring in the handle is different than I am used to, so have a replacement on the way from CCM. Also have a direct mount CP on/off coming, my favorite ASA ever and use on everything I can. Probably ditching the WGP preset for a CP reg. Came with a blue delrin bolt which I may test out, but I prefer stock WGP metal bolts with o-rings.
