Improved search functions, or sub forum search

Pardon my ignorance if I am doing this wrong, but I have a suggestion that may make the forum, especially the feedback threads easier to use.

This is specifically an issue in the feedback thread forums. Id like the ability to either add a keyword(s) to the " filter" options. Or better yet the ability to search said sub forum there.

Lets take my recent feedback for shooter311 for example. To find his feedback thread I first attempted a search for "shooter311". No feedback thread. Searched "shooter feedback" nothing. Searched a few other combinations of that with no luck.

All of my attempts pulled some randomness from all over the forum, not specifically the feedback thread sub forum, and not specifically posts by shooter311.

Then I Went back to the feedback subforum to dig. I noticed the " filter" results. I sorted by members, then had to guess where S lands on the list of feedback threads, and bop through pages til I found his thread. It was page 23 or something.

Luckily it was an S because he was the creator of his own thread. A lot of members' feedbackthreads were created by someone else. So this filtering method isnt always going to work. It leaves you to guessing again.

From this I see two possible improvements we can make. Id either like the ability to use the search function, but select which sub forum you want to search in with your selected keywords.

The other idea this spurs is to add a "keyword" bar to the filter function in said sub forums to act as a sub forum search.

Does that make sense? Would it be easy to achieve code wise? And or is this already a feature I just failed to see?

    Thanks all!

Okay, I see you can go to advanced search to get to a subforum selection, so I missed that, but Id still like to see the filter tool have the ability to add keywords to it.

I've been having the same problem trying to track down people's feed back. Some have an apostrophe and some don't, and if you don't have it right it won't come up at all. I feel like the search is too picky, but I don't know if that's something that can be changed.

I recommended that we add search functions under each section..... go to feedback section.....find search bar type what your looking for and hopefully it comes up.
I think this is a bit more user friendly than telling people to search through all the threads they have created.....user profile, about, all started topics....
or even trying to figure out how to appropriately use the advanced search thing.

Thats essentially what I mean by adding keywords to the filter tab. In each section we have a filter drop down that helps you sort all results. If we could add a few keywords to the filter THEN select members, ascending , ect. It should make it much easier to utilize.
