If Duckslides are so “happy” and “fun”, then why do people pretty much always sell them on? I’ve seen lots of beautiful examples but I’ve never heard about them being good. They seem to legit ruin a Phantom for any purpose other than sitting on a shelf. If I wanted something useless I’d just get an actual Desert Eagle.

Okay I'll remedy that for you, I love my Duckslide it is a very shoot-able, reliable and good stock class marker. It is better then anything I started out playing paintball with many moons ago. Now you can never say you "never heard about them being good" again
I get it you are a purist that thinks what Mike came up with was perfect. That is fine you enjoy what you enjoy but never understood why you feel the need to bash everything that does not fit your very narrow view of what is right in paintball. I think Mike came up with a good, reliable, marker and I have owned 10-15 over the years and sold almost all of them (down to 3 versions and trying to sell the most stock build of them so soon will be 2). They worked and all were fine markers but did not stop me from passing them on. -
Have you ever used a Duckslide?
I love my Duckslide and use it every chance I get. If I lived in a warmer area I’d use it more. I’d say that my Duckslide is smoother and more comfortable than a stock Phantom with an over the barrel pump handle.
In my opinion people sell them because pistol play isn’t for everyone. The majority of people are used to having a tank to shoulder or a stock. It’s hard to get used to not having that and that leads to most people selling them. -
I have a Duckslide that I enjoy very much. I use it sometimes when I play walk-ons, but it's too easy to use. I mostly save it for when I'm playing woods ball now. The smaller size makes it easy to run with. It shoots extremely straight and I'd use it more, but CO2 is expensive now and I only want to run CO2 in the woods where there isn't a fill station.
SignOfZeta sounds like he needs some paintball time to get some happiness.

Why customize anything then? We should all just use Emeks and drive around in tan civics, and live in cookie cutter houses. It's all about preference. We can tell you don't like Duck slides, but your not gonna convince people that own them that they shouldn't like them either. I've seen plenty of them in use, too. Not everyone just buys stuff for the shelves. Don't yuck someone else's yum when it isn't causing anyone harm.Comment

Ok so I got to put the frame threw some stress testing today. Played all day today with it. I had to bump up to a red spring to get velocity. Now I have the frame port plugged and just using it in the VSC setup style. Not sure how that affects volume.
However I did have the marker choke up on me in the sun. I wasn’t the only one seeing spikes today and wasn’t thinking at the time but I had my 12g in my car so they may have been super charging the 12g due to the added heat. it was probably my fault because after I switched out the hammer spring to Red she performed flawlessly the rest of the day. I have never ran into a valve choking conditions especially on a 75* ish day. At the same time I think it’s likely my 12g storage conditions that caused the issue they were in a black case in an enclosed car. after I took them out they must have cooled because I didn’t have an issue after that the rest of the day. I’m getting a lil less shots to a 12g on average but paint was round but a lil inconsistent in size so who knows.
I started the day disappointed but ended up figuring it out with the right spring and ended the day extremely happy. The 2.0 grip frame makes disassembly a lil more difficult it’s got a few trade offs. I’m also curious how it will react to the HPA bottle pressure I use. But overall I’m really happy with the new setup. Pulled off some great shots with it today. Not sure if it was just a good day or the great sight picture with the hard line in the way. Anyone have further experience with this?
I'm wondering how it would perform on HPA, open class - if it would get choked up, or if it "breathes" OK enough to still get 3-4 bps. Might not sell that breech with internals... might buy a frame and have a whole gun floating around instead.Comment

So I have run mine on HPA I don’t see any issues with it. However you do need stiffer red springs. My setup is probably the least amount of volume because I’m using a CCM grip so I plugged the trigger frame (less volume).
So no issues running HPA or CO2. I did notice a 12g performance decrease running the 2.0 setup the way I do. It’s very little loss in efficiency I would say 5-7 shot difference. Nothing earth shattering definitely livable. But it’s something to consider. Other than that it’s been reliable holds pressure over night in fact it’s held 12g pressure for a week. So the sealing technique works well.
I like it, it looks clean and I don’t think it’s unreasonably priced given what you get. Performance degradation is minimal, and it’s seems to be reliable. Only downside I see is it makes it more difficult to pull apart and clean. It’s one more thing you need to line up just right. But when you do it seems durable and reliable. Definitely more reliable than those not using the hardline setups. Extreme should not even offer Phantom’s without the hard line kit IMO.

Nope the valve is the same size (Internally). Is more how narrow the channels are I think. It restricts flow a bit to the valve. They could probably play with the port size to find a more efficient happy medium. I know they went small to reduce volume but I think it’s slowing the gas transfer in the process marking it a we bit less efficient. I think if you bored out the holes maybe a 1/16 you would see better 12g performance numbers but at the same time it could go the other way. It’s a balance act and the Stock Phantom has had decades of performance tweaks it rides that line of optimum 12g performance very closely. So changes often affect them negatively to some extent. I’m literally splitting hairs as it makes very little difference in performance. I just noticed i couldn’t shoot as deep into a 12g and it did throw off my shot count when I play with my “go to” Phantom. I just adjusted after a few games and was good to go. Over all I think it’s a good mod and modernizes the Phantom a lil bit. It really cleans up the sight picture when shooting right to for people who sight down the side of the marker to aim. That alone for me makes it worth the extra 5 shots I usually dump anyway to keep my shot count or tactical change out early.
