Back when I worked at the kwiky mart I usually got a laugh at the people who would say "oh, I'm not getting a ticket till the jackpot gets to $XXX million"
I tried to explain to one of these customers once, "you know your odds of winning the jackpot don't ever change with the larger jackpot, but your odds of splitting the jackpot with one or more people does increase slightly as the jackpot gets bigger because more people play."
I don't think the person really grasped it.
