But if i back the swab out any farther then the bolt will shoot it right out of my hand (not really but it does kick pretty hard which will easily break paint) so what im asking is, is this normal? or should the bolt stop all forward motion no matter how much of the breech the swap is in?
How many spacers do you have in it? The more spacers the further the bolt moves before the piston fully opens and allows the full force bolt movement. There will always be a point where it goes to full speed.

towards the barrel end of the breech the bolt will always be moving fast - is has to to vent as it seals against the barrel. You can add a couple of shims and it'll move the trigger later in the cycle - but if you add too many you'll get a leak again.

I would start with getting the bolt working right then play with the spacers.

The most critical part for the level 10 to do it's anti-chop thing is the start of the cycle. You can't be chopping a ball once you get half way through the cycle - it would have to be fully in the breech or in the feecneck to let the bolt get that far.

So yes, that sounds normal. Longer springs do not change the shim requirements. Shims are only used if you stop the bolt in the first 1/4" or so of travel (soft) and it won't reset on its own. They are a timing thing really. If you use too many (which can be just one), it can make the bolt vent all the time instead of when it is moving.

Instead of oil try some grease on there (just put it on the bolt tip). It only lasts until you shoot it off with oil, but it might help confirm where your leak is.

well guys, It looks like i have it pretty much figured out. I guess the shims were an issue. I will order a new spring kit soon and see if that makes it a little softer but for now it will so.

the gun seems to be pretty consistent and it shoots reliably but there is a faint leak still (you cant hear it will a hopper attached) but i also havent oiled it since the start of my trouble shooting so it has probably been through ~2000-3000 shots without oil so i will also try that in the morning

and for anyone who is interested, here is a quick pic of my mag (It was magman's but he parted it out and i put it back together)

does the leak stop when you apply Gentle pressure on the trigger but do not fire it.. if so it's in your on/off not your bolt

nice looking mag. yeah, grab your oil, pull the macro where it hits the connector by the valve then dump a good amount of oil in there and shoot it through - I bet the leak goes away.

That looks like it was sandfreestyle's a while back. Similar theme you might appreciate anyway.

This was a nice month for the contest, that one may be at post #20.

He had a series of color coordinated mags, like an ironmag (ironman theme). The purple x-valve can be hard to get. Iirc, bazooka_boy can ano one for you, if you feel the need for it.

I thought about getting an x-valve but they are just crazy expensive. I dont mind the normal valve becasue the rest of the gun is so light but if i fall in love with this and end up shooting it every weeked (I have 13 guns and usualy only take my t2 every weekend and most dont get played with) then i might invest in an x-valve
