Black box mod?

Was wondering if anyone can explain what this is or if they have any pics or something? Apparently my 68 has the hole for it to be fitted.....

Magic box. It was an early Smart Parts bit of chicanery and tomfoolery. It was nothing more than a few pieces of plumbing fittings that bypassed the reg and went straight to the dump chamber.

Theoretically it was supposed to lower the operating pressure of the mag or some such nonsense. What it really did is allow you to point your gun down, to let liquid CO2 into the dump chamber for a super hot shot.

Also, it let Smart Parts charge $100+ for 30 cents worth of plumbing fittings.

The blind pipe nipple into the valve was only 30 cents, but the actual box that covered it was obviously the magic part.

so what can i do to stop this leaking?

Robertsr 09-18-2012 03:50 PM

Plug the holes with a worm screw or put a gauge in it or something. Plugged, they don't do any harm.

hmmmm ill have to have a look at that dont know if i can actually plug it. the hole is a hex shape as opposed to taped for threads......

need4reebs 09-18-2012 03:54 PM
