Mag barrel kit options

I'm looking into upgrades for my mag and thought a barrel kit would be a worthwhile investment. I don't know much of what's out there for twist-lock though. What have you guys used? Which kit seems to work the best?

Automag twistlock to cocker adapters - 70 available

There not much barrel available for mag with twistlock and they used. Buying this will make you able to use cocker barrel kit.

I have one of these and one of Doc's. They both perform about the same. I did have some issues with the thread tollerances on Doc's. A few of my Cocker barrels required a little work to get them threaded onto Doc's back. Once the threads got opened up enough, they all work fine now.

I have a twist-lock Freak back. It shoots about the same as using the adapters and a Cocker Freak back.

The big difference is the hassle of "installing" the adapters. That would be were Noxx's adapter really shines. Doc used Spyder detents, which are tricky to deal with. The nubbins on Noxx's are almost trouble free.

Automag Compression System [Automag] - $69.95 : Python Paintball, Give Your Balls A Squeeze

Python makes a kit. I reviewed mine here Python Compression System Automag and Autococker

It gives you a lot of options with the Cocker threading, and also has the inserts.

Inserts in general are over-rated in my opinion, but at least it helps with rollouts.

You can still find new twist lock Freak backs. Call around old local shops. There's a few here and there gathering dust. I also heard a rumor that there was a bunch sitting in a distributors warehouse someplace still...ask your local shop if he or she can order one.

I would have to add third to this one. I have one for my cocker, mag and phantom.

If I were to go with a barrel kit I'd really like to get a twistlock one, and would hate to buy an adapter and a barrel kit for something like a cocker. That said the python kit seems to be a decent compromise, do you guys find it helps with accuracy or just rollouts? I've never had a problem with rollouts so if that's all it really helps with then I'd probably put my money towards upgrading something else.

Personally I didn't see a difference, but I was running with an uncommonly accurate barrel to start with.

It did great things for rollouts, and IMHO was well worth the money just for that.

I've never really had a problem with roll outs on a twist lock Automag.
