Are they as bad as people say?

Just a question for you Nova owners. I cant help but be interested in this gun but I have heard repeatedly they are nightmare to keep functioning. After looking at the parts diagram it doesn't seem too complex so whats the deal? Are these as finicky as people say and if so please elaborate how/why?

Thanks,

its kind of like a spool cocker. biggest problem for awhile was orings and probably still is.

I had a few, one worked the others were donors. I liked mine but I've heard horror stories.

One of my buddies tried to get his friend started playing way back when... The guy played with rentals a few times, really liked the sport, then bought a nova. It never worked properly and despite LOTS of help from the local proshop it was effectively a brick - turned him off of the sport entirely until recently.

I've had mine from around 2000 and it still airs up and shoots just fine. Haven't had to replace orings or anything.

Why am i thinking around 20 o-rings? I remember it was some crazy amount.
Ahh, this should help.

Spool valve housing (3 spool o-rings):
Outside o-rings (3): 222/70
Spool endcap seal: 117/70
Spool seal inside o-rings (2): 112/70

Breech housing outside o-rings (2): 222/70

I've had several and they're not that difficult to me personally. The main problem is they're a unique gun with a lot of o-rings. I don't think many people understand how to work on them or do maintenance.... especially in the trigger area or breaking it down to the spool.

Problems I had with the Novas and my love / hate relationship is just that it's not a gun you can pull out and shoot at any field. Not unlike a cocker there's a trigger pull and rhythm you have to get. A bit picky on paint. If you find the right paint you're good. When you don't it's a blender. One chop and you're done for a bit. You can't pull the barrel when it's gassed up. The local fields switching to FPO and the stuff not running well in the Novas is the main reason I just gave up.

THey are much easier to work on then a ICE Epic.
I have recieved some really bad leaky Novas and had no issues get back up and running. Not sure if lucky or what, but they are fun to play with.
