What was it? - Early PMI

Back in 1991, as a sophomore in high school, I bought my first paintball gun, off another student. Yes, in school, Psychology class to be exact (don't try doing that now days).

Pictures I've seen of P-12's, and the picture on VintageRex look like it, but the barrel is too long. The barrel was at least two inches shorter than the one on VR. I know it wasn't cut down beacuse it still had the bead site on the barrel. It was a pump action, 12 gram powered, PMI-Sheridan marker, .68cal. Also, it was single shot, no auto trigger.

What is mainly throwing me off is stamped on the side of the marker it said "Piranha", might have had P series too, it's been a while. But I have never seen anyone refer to a early PMI marker as a Piranha. For the longest time I believed it was a PMI-DF, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

If anyone can shed some light on this mystery, I would be most appreciative. I am thinking of finding one and replacing my "lost" marker, for nostalgia. What price range should I be looking to spend?

It was heavy, brass and well constructed. Wish I had never sold it.

Here is a direct link to the VR pic.

Yup, positive. It was 12 gram powered, through the front. No bottle adapter on the back.

If anything, it looked most like a P-12 or a PMI-I with a Direct Feed. It was not a modified or converted marker either, it was stock.

But I am 100% positive it had the words Piranha stamped on it too.

That is highly odd. It sounds like a PMI-1 DF from your description, but I've never heard of one of those bearing the Piranha name. All the Piranhas I have seen are constant air.

Thats what is throwing me too. I have done my research, trying to find the answer. But like I said, I know it had Piranha on it, as thats what we called it..."The Piranha".

Wonder if I can track down the guy I sold it to.

Definately sounds like a PMI-1 DF. Maybe there could have been some crossover in model stamping between the DF body and the LB body.
