how much co2 should a 114/45 bottle fit?

I have been using a 114/45 for co2 for a while now, In the past I used some carbon fibre tanks with my shocker, and there was always some disagreement on the exact capacities of these tanks. I know a person who used to be on a Smart Parts Sponsored team and he told me that they always used 64oz in their 114ci tanks, and that seems almost right, but looking at it, my 114 isn't all that much physically bigger than my aluminum 48oz, so is there anyone who knows for sure? And another person claimed that their 68ci co2 tank was holding 64oz, which makes me think that it would have to be chilled unreasonably cold to get that much in, but I am not 100% sure on that either.

BTW, I have been getting my Fills at Gander Mountain recently, I wouldn't reccomend it unless there is no paintball store near you, but I swear they are jamming 5+lbs in there, I haven't weighed it but, it is sooooo heavy, and there are no oz labels anywhere on the tank and they have never asked me, so that whole thing worries me, but strangely I have yet to lose a burst disc yet (and all of my tanks have 1.8K bursts despite being 3 or 4.5K tanks).

When I fill tanks myself, I usually just put 40oz in any tank that is over 3lbs in capacity, since I know that is enough for most of the games I play and perhaps expansion room can help, but since I don't have a bulk tank in hydro I have to rely on others right now....

Air to CO2?

Read posts 13-15.

Lucky you for having a 114ci tank for co2. I have an 88ci on my spyder right now.

That chart needs a sticky, but where is the 33% "Rule of Thumb" discussed there based on? do 20oz co2 tanks have 33% free space or something?

The only reason why I am using my 114/45 for co2 is be cause my smaller 48oz aluminum tank seems to be out of hydro (Which I didn't realize until the end of the day playing a few weeks ago, apparently Gander Mountain doesn't check tanks before filling them...) my 48oz has that number stamped into the metal, perhaps I should take the valve off and measure how much oil will fill it (Liquid Volume) to see the relationship between the capacity stamped and actual capacity if different.

BTW: I run remote, I seen on the other thread you run with it on gun, you must have very strong arms, lol, I couldn't imagine doing that. I noticed it is also not agled, do you have an AS installed in that tank?

The 33% is the space not filled with liquid. That space gives the liquid room to expand into gas.

I wouldnt use oil. Use water. So much easier to clean up plus the cost. Sure its not a 48 cubic inch?

The 20oz I ran with for years has one but the 88ci does not right now. I had a valve leak on me shortly after putting it on. Then I went through a spell of not using it & now that I have rethought about what Im going to keep, I have a SP on-off ASA that I will need to match up to the female Palmer after I get the stainless hose how I want it.

I was thinking of using oil as I worry about getting moisture in my system, While it doesn't really matter too much for an Aluminum cylinder, that moisture could ruin steel parts in my markers, or regulators. This is why I usually keep a bit of pressure in my cylinders, so that moisture can be kept out (not to mention that I do have some steel tanks that can rust, but none of the ones I am talking about are steel).

I am sure it is a 48oz tank, not a 48ci as it is nearly double the size and the actual text stamped into the side is "DOT-3AL 1800 M5343 12A03 03LB CO2". So, I read that as a 48oz Aluminum 1800psi tank, made in December of 2003.

Here is a picture of my tanks to give you an Idea of the size difference:

From left to right:
12 gram, 9oz, 12oz, 16oz, 48oz, 48ci, 88ci, 114ci, 134ci

(the 48oz is my only white tank)

WOW... that one hell of a tank. The water, I took mine out in the shop after washing out the inside (had PB Blaster down in there) & blew air up into it for several minutes. Then I let it sit for several day to dry out & didnt have any issues.

20 oz CO2 tank has volume of about 60 cubic inches.

So fill 10oz CO2 per 30 cubic inches of tank.

114 ci I'd fill to no more than 40 oz.
