The BT 16 uses 98 threaded barrels, the BT4 uses A5/X7 threaded barrels.

my bt16 is in storage , but from what i remember , the barrel dosent look like this one

I'd say the barrel is a Model 98 (Not 98 Custom) barrel using the old 98 threads.

but that dosent explain why the o-ring dosent even come close to touching - let alone entering - the body ...........

I have a few of those barrels it is off of a Tippmann Triumph XT, that is the factroy barrel on them. It will work on the Tippmann 98's but dose come loose after a bit.
