I beg to differ. Since most high ends now, operate at only 200psi OR LESS. The LP output of 400psi is more then enough to satisfy todays markers.

The easiest fix is to do the shim mod on the stock WDP reg. Search PBN, and you'll find it. The stock reg didn't have enough spring pressure to drop the pressure of an HP tank. IIRC, I think you restacked them in a different pattern to up the spring rate. Or replace the reg with something like a CP reg. Testing on stock WDP regs was done by Tom Kaye at AGD, and found it to have terrible recharge rates, so I would personally go with replacing it all togther.

Either way, a HP tank and a decent reg are cheaper than two tanks.
