I've had phantoms -- really nice markers, but they didn't feel comfortable in my hands. The phantom autotrigger was pretty nice though

I just picked up a mmmmint p68sc from one of my PB friends and I'm completely in love. Other than maybe having a valve job done, I'm keeping it intact (I already have various flavors of piranhas and PGPs to satisfy my need to experiment)

I'd pick the p68sc over the phantom any day.

Alright, I was just made an offer to buy a PMI-1 in really nice shape. What are the differences between the PMI-1 and the P68 besides the pump slide and the feed tube?

None really. Some P-68SCs came with a cartridge valve, but that is the only other possible difference I can think of at the moment. If you intend to tune for maximum performance the older non-cartridge valve is a plus anyway.

Here is a thought for ya, get a Palmer Superstock, instead of the standard feed, have them put in a P68 style magazine tube and no plating.

Any casual glances you will be hard pressed to tell the difference between the two.

It would also cost a heck of a lot more than a used Sheridan, and honestly not perform all that much better after the sheridan has had the valve tweaked by an expert. I'd only recommend getting a PPS stocker if you wanted a significantly different configuration than a stock Sheridan, or really just wanted a custom gun and were willing to pay that premium price.

All PMI-1s will have the old style "non-cartridge" valve. This should theoretically be able to yield a couple more shots per 12 gram than the cartridge valve equipped Sheridans when properly performance tuned. At least, that is what is widely believed.

P-68's are longer, aren't they? And they have a 15 round feed, which is kinda goofy to get used to.

The PMI-1 is still a great buy at the right price and PPS can do plenty of work for you on it. Any differences between it and a P68 will disappear after a trip to Palmers. That is other than the feed tube, 15 rounds for the P68 and 10 for the PMI-1. With a speed chute then it is really not a big difference. The Palmers SS is a great marker but if you are just getting into the stock class world it is a lot to sink into a marker. The PMI-1 or P68 will let you step into the SC world much more affordably and will give you some room to improve on the marker. Keep your eye out for a good SC harness or at least some of the wrist holders for 12g's and 10 round tubes.

The Phantoms are wonderful markers and the fact that Mike at CCI has not had to make any significant changes to his design in decades is a testament to it longevity and quality.

Good luck with either one and welcome to the world of SC.

at this point i've decided against the phantom just based on my addiction to older paintball guns. I like the looks of both the P68 and the PMI-1. Theres a few for sale on this forum and I wanted your opinions on them.

First is the P68 here

second is the P68 here

I also recieved an offer for a nice looking but untested PMI-1 for $100.

Which one would you guys reccomend? I like them all, so I can't decide. I'm leaning towards the first one since the guy has been responsive to my questions. I'm still waiting to hear from the second one.
