Hollow threaded rod/screws/studs

I have a gigantic e-cookie for anyone that can find me a place that sells hollow threaded rod, set screws or studs made out of metal with 1/4-28 threading! McMaster only has 1/4-20, Smallparts has bupkis, and I can't seem to Google my way to victory either.

Youre not going to find it. It will have to be made. In fact, 1/4-28 threaded rod wil have to be machined.

Well, McMaster has 1/4-28 rod in a variety of metals, finishes and lengths...but no hollow.

Would it be easier to retap a 1/4-28 hole to 1/4-20, or try to get some rod drilled out?

I dont think it is possible to tap a 1/4-28 hole to 1/4-20. You would have to go bigger.

The Nutty Company - Online fastener supplier of nuts, bolts, screws, washers, rivets, threaded rod and pins, hardware and more. Thay have it in threaded rod but not hollow, you also get a few options on material (including brass!). The company is old but the site is new and doesn't have a search function .

You can always use a die to thread some stainless tubing, depending on your required end use.

Unfortunately what I need to do is go from a 1/4-28 threaded hole to a 5/32 or 1/16 (don't recall off the top of my head) barbed fitting somehow. The only barbed fittings with that threading I've found are plastic for the medical industry, so I figure I'll need to just run a hollow screw out and then get some kinda brass adapter fitting to attach a normal barb.

Brass threaded might work..probably easier to drill out than stainless if I have to resort to that. I seriously need to get my father's old drill press shipped to me

ChaChing!

Beswick Engineering: 1/4-28 Ext THD To Barb - MH

Just have to measure and see if the hole I have will support the 3/16" of threading.

Or if I can get some hollow rod/screws in 1/4-28, this will let me convert to 10-32 for convenience.

Dude, you're the linkmaster! Unfortunately..

Link 1: Plastic (PEEK)
Link 2: Found it..that's the plastic ones I was talking about

But
Line 3: Perfect, but $30 per piece on the thread adapter! Hose barbs looks like the way to go, just need to figure out what size I have (or I suppose I could just buy one of each).

Thanks!

Edit: $50 min order for site 3 as well, and I didn't notice all the hose barbs are plastic. Looks like I'm in for $30 for a thread adapter...and then $20 worth of macroline fittings? lol
