AGS Evolved into TASO, so you probably got an early Spartan with a sight rail left over from the AGS days (Bloodsucker, etc). It could have come from the factory that way, or it could be a replacement as they had the same dimensions. Wouldn't consider it rare, but they are nice, solid pieces.

I believe the original owners of AGS got divorced, and split the company.
One retained the name AGS, and the other started there own company: TASO.

They split their inventory, so for a while TASO was selling AGS parts until it started making there own. Kinda amusing since you could find both AGS and TASO adds in APG for a while, until AGS died.

strange handframe

the inside of the handframe can take a 12g cartridge. but it doesn't hook into the gun. any thoughts on that?

Its just an early Spartan that is utilizing the standard nelspot 007 frame.. Common really.

TASO spartan

I also have a spartan from TASO. Mine uses the very small CO2 cylinders (12g?) that you just throw away when they're empty. I still have the original box the marker came in - but am trying to figure out how I can attach a larger CO2 cylinder to this thing...something that I can refill. Anybody have any ideas???

You need to replace the 12-gram donkey with a full threaded ASA, so that it can accept the larger refillable tanks.

You can find plenty of cheap nelson-based threaded ASAs over in the buy/sell section.
However, the question that maybe someone else can answer is, I'm not sure if you need a TASO specifically, or if most or all nelson-variants would work?
