I know when I am setting up an autococker I need to test it out with air after I set the lug depth. Pulling back the cocking rod by hand can lead to differing results when it is slapping back pneumatically. Have you tried setting the lug lower a little even though it is catching when you pump slowly? Also take a look at the lug itself, it may be worn out.
The weight of the lug doesnt matter as I dont think it moves unless you adjust it. The heavier hammer would just create a stronger impact on the lug, probably slipping it under and creating your same problem over again.

How much are you trying to adjust the lug, how many turns?
I have to tell you that I have no experience with roller sears but the way they operate is still similar, it sounds like the lug is adjusted incorrectly. To the point where it catches when you cock it slow, add bout half a turn more and it should be ok.

also, when you cock it, grab the cocking rod and wiggle it up and down. if that caused the sear to let go, you need more lug. (I use this test frequently when tuning non-at'ed sni2s)

possibly lug is loose and travels into hammer.

What he heck is a sni2?

Stiffer sear spring. Even with a fairly stiff sear spring, the roller will still make it feel light, and have a good release point. You dont want mouse click on a trigger, its just bad shooting.
