That's what it's supposed to look like.

If you look at a standard phantom barrel there is a really thin bit of metal there at the end. When you bore the barrel for inserts that thin peice is taken completely off.

yeah, i noticed that too. I guess my real problem is that I can't get it to tighten enough so that the insert isn't sliding around.

That is what they look like

Not sure about the problem you are having. Mine were snug and did not move around at all.

Tried taking the o-ring off, still won't catch. I almost feel like it needs to be "broken in"... I really don't want to file it down though.

If you go to Splattttttt's game bring it and you can compare it to mine.

It's not the one that was for sale at PW Paintball in Plainville is it?

Take your old barrel and screw it all the way in, then put a piece of tape on it to mark how far it goes in. Then transfer that measurement to the Frantom and see if it is threading all the way in. I found that the older bodies won't accept the new Frantom barrels. WWW offered me a new body at cost or to send mine in for an exchange. The new threads are .015" larger which is good for strength but bad if you have an older body.

Nope, not the one from Plainville.

i think the threads are my problem. Comparing the threads i've noticed that the threads on my older barrels on both phantoms are a bit smaller than on the Frantom. Time for a new body i guess? I've been meaning to get one anyway!
