Mine used large pistol primers and did have a small anvil that went into each round under the metal cup that the primer was pressed into with the open end towards the rear of the round. Always had issues with the plastic rounds cracking and the balls not breaking on anything, but lots of fun to startle somebody with a burst from the thing ...

no, they don't use shotgun primers... they use large pistol primers.

as ehalcik noted... the anvil that hits the primer is a small metal piece that fits inside the plastic case. these little anvils have to be reformed with a punch each time you reload them.

including the paintball and primer, there are 5 individual pieces that make up one cartridge and it's sorta time consuming to reload them.

i don't have a scanner but i can take a high resolution pic of the instruction sheet.

I see. So I should what, stop using the .410 primers that I've been using for 5+ years now, as per the recomendation of both the manual and the original owner?

Yes if you could take a photo it would help a great deal. My email is posted in my profile I think. I'm not familiar with where to find such info yet but I did leave it open to members to communicate with me. Thanks.

no need to be a smart *** but if it works for you go for it!!! i don't know what manual your reading but it must be different than mine.

LYMAN instructions for reloading PARA-ORDNANCE M-85...

tools needed: 3/16 wide slotted screwdriver
5/16 open end or box wrench
soft faced hammer
Winchester Large Pistol Primers

then further into the instructions in bold caps it says (CAUTION: USE ONLY WINCHESTER LARGE PISTOL PRIMERS)

again, if .410 shotgun primers work for you, have at it but it's not what's recommended. atleast not in the info i have. i'd like to see your info where it says to use them... and i'm not talking about what the previous owner said he used.

Adam45, i'll get some photos and post them in this thread for you.
