I believe Shocktech made a cocker detent that was a button profile with an allen key fitting on top. That would be perfect if you decide to go the countersunk route (which sounds really cool, and is probably what I would do).

*hmmm* very tempted to see what I can do to make a detente smaller, as I can't find the Shocktech detentes you speak of PP (they've gone to a new style that's all knurled for easy gripping) and the MacDev ones I used on all my Tribals are gone as well, and they were pretty tiny and compact. *hmmm* Okay, I'll hunt around in my parts bins and see what I come up with. Thanks for the thoughts, gents!

If I remember my detente, its hex under that cap. Theres an aluminum cap on top of a stainless screw and its supposed to be rebuild able. Think of it as a hollow setscrew with a ball bearing and spring inside of it with a fancy aluminum cap.

If you do have access to a lathe you could always make a detent by drilling out a 3/8UNF setscrew 1/2" long and putting a suitable sized ball bearing inside with a spring and cap it with an aluminum cap. You could even get the aluminum cap ano'd to match your gun.

Try what I'm doing. Spyder nubbin detents, in this case inside a drilled-out set screw (or externally threaded aluminum piece), then tap the inside for another set screw. Drop them in, screw it down, a little loctite, it's all good.

Unless find a better plan (I doubt .25 is enough meat for Ion detents), I'll be doing that. Now just to figure out if I'll need a seperate cover or just a screw.
