Difference between Grey Ghost and Grey Spirit?

I see them pop up on the b/s/t sections a lot... but never can tell the difference between the two models. All I know is, everyone that has ever had a Ghost swears by them.

What is the real difference between the Ghost and Spirit?

Breech drop vs. bore drop essentially. And numbers made.

A small blurb from the man himself about Lapco pump guns:

The Grey Spirit is a bore drop version of the Ghost. I made 500 of them from 1990 to 1995. The last 60 were custom guns, made to order, between 1993 and 1995.

Three other variants were produced in numbers. The Wrath was a black Ghost without the pump spring and barrel honing. 500 were built.

The Vamp was an english export version of the Wrath. 80 were built.

The Spectre was a black Spirit without the pump spring and barrel honing. This gun was sold as a field gun. 600 were made.

The breechdrop guns were 100% Nelson 007 compatible. The boredrop guns were produced to compete with the Bushmaster. The parts are interchangable.

110 AutoSpirits were produced between 1993 and 1994. These semis are no longer available.

ghost has single pump arm and the spirit has two.

Colin pretty much mastered the Nelson internals making them "feel" better than most all other Nelson type guns of the era.To me theres not much of a difference between the 2 as far as there shoot ability.
I like the Ghost a little better because "Grey Ghost" just rolls off my tongue a little better. Back in the day everybody had a black guns, this grey color is just a little cooler. :)

So what's the diff between Breech-Drop, and Bore-Drop?

c6quad 01-12-2007 12:22 AM

bore drop= ball drops directly into the barrel.

breech drop= ball drops into breech (larger diameter) then pushed into the barrel (smaller diameter)

You guys are missing the best part...

There are 110 Autospirits out there for us to find!

Painthappy 01-12-2007 08:37 AM

But I have one of those autospirits, so... 109 now... lol.

And notice he still never mentioned my Daystar from Lapco. Geez... I'll never get any recognition for that gun!

Il recognize it carter.

There is also the daystar, essentially an autospirit body setup to be a bump. It has autococker barrel threads, and Steven Cunha wants one :P

Basically the difference between bore and breech drop is a 1 inch longer bolt on the bore drop. Its kind of silly.

i have an Autospirit too, so there's 108 still out there.
