ATS Barrel questions

I just bought my first ATS guns (2 of them) and now I have some questions regarding the barrels.

- Can I use them without the unisizers or will I break paint if I do it?
- I bought a 1 of 1 16" AKA Javelin barrel that, although compatible with the unisizers, I'm considering having it bored for freak inserts. Is it a good idea, considering I have plenty inserts here?

This is the barrel I'm talking about:

Thanks,

Mendel.

I'm pretty sure you can freak bore them, but you have to make it so the freak insert sticks back to where the unisizer would sit.

That's what I thought. How do you use your AT-10? With or without the unisizers?

Also, is there any pics of a barrel with an unisizer mounted? I've never seen one?

And does anyonw knows if Stanchy knows how to do it for ATS guns? Anyone had an ATS barrel done by him?

Thanks.

I personally use a Lapco .680 barrel with my AT-10. It doesn't use a unisizer. I think Weltman put a special MCB order together a while back.
I do still have my stock barrel which I could theoretically use if I found paint that was too small for the Lapco.
I'm sure SSC could do it, he'd probably just need to know how far back the insert needs to sit.

here's a picture of an ATS barrel with unisizer:

Brazilian balls are bigger! LOL

I still have to use 687 or 689 barrels here. If I under-bore I'd still use 684/685. But speaking with Sneaky Sir he basically nailed it out:

A cheaper alternative would be going with "Python Compression kit"

I have it, use it, and love it. It works the same a freak kit but without having to bore a barrel or your wallet.

The point is: I don't see ATS as a thread option on their web-site.

Also, I have 3 full freak inserts kits so it's way cheaper (actually half the price) to have the barrel bored instead of buying a new kit that I'll only be able to use on this gun, anyways.

Makes sense?

I just checked my AT85 barrel, the bore is 4.22" deep, it was also bored with a taper at the end to help center the insert so I am not sure how exact this length is. My barrel was bored by yetiking you may try Pm'ing him about it.

I actually spoke with Stanchy yesterday. I'll send him a couple ATS barrels (the one pictured above and an original 14" ATS barrel). If he can't do the Javelin he will try working on the ATS. I'll send him a unisizer as well so he can measure it and bore the barrel in the right way.

Thanks for the replyes guys.

You will need to contact Python Paintball and the guy will have to custom make one for you. Same price but will take longer to get the kit as he has to make it when you order it.

Techt sells the iFit barrel system. It looks like the same design as the Python compression kit. I wonder if Python's patent expired and the patent is expired or Python makes it for Techt. Even on the website states that Python sleeves will fit in the iFit. If this is correct then it will work vice versa. Which means you can buy inserts of different bore sizes from Techt and use them in the Python kit as the Python kit has only 5 sleeve sizes.
