Is this how Bob Long wants his techs to

behave??

Yesterday at Davis Paintball we had this kid playing with a Closer(sp). Anyway it has been played with normally and had been working great all day when all off a sudden the fricken back plate and everything inside explodes out the back of the marker and hits the kid in the mask. Puts a small hole in the mask and scratches the lense. Needless to say the kid freaked !! Anyway after the game he call Delta Paintball to talk to somebody there about maybe having it looked at, or if there was something that could be done about it.

So here was the responce from the tech to the kid.(and there was about half a dozen guys to witness) " tape the thing back together and play with it!!.

WTF?????? There was no " Why don't you bring that by and maybe we could take a look at it for ya and see what happened".Or anything remotely like that.

Or even a "Dude I'm sorry to hear that, that sucks are you all right??.

Just a "Just tape it back together and play with it!!.

You would think that the tech would have been smart enough to know that there are maybe some kids out there that don't know anything and thier markers and would have maybe tried it.

Wonder how Bob would be feeling if the kid had done that, pulled the trigger and maybe got a neck full of debris.Or if he'd care..

I could see him in court now sitting there watching some kid on the stand. "Well the tech told me just to tape it back to gether and play with it!!.

I wouldn't really call that shady, so much as irresponsible.

Eh? I have a Closer sitting on my desk right now. I can't really fathom what happened? Was it the poppet valve or Ryujin board that had the problem?

Also why did he call Delta instead of BL Tech? I'd think that would be a question for the manufactor, and not a retailer (even if they are closely related).

I'm not making light of the situation by any means, I'm just interested in learning more.

Every single time I have ever called Bob Long (Blast) they are the top of the line when it comes to Customer Support. Im not saying your incorrect, but it sounds like the complete opposite of what I myself and friends who own BL guns get.

Maybe your mistaking Delta Paintball for Blast??? A retailer and the manufacturer?

I personally could not tell you what failed. all I know is that everything in that tube came out the back. It caused the body even to bulge and tore a small piece on the back end. We have pics that I was hoping would be posted up by now.

I'm sure it was Delta, but could've been Blast .I'm old now and have senior moments. I will find out. I am calling the kid tonight. But he did talk to a tech that he had delt with before.

So - you are not sure if it was Bob Long's BLAST tech's but you are hammering them nonetheless?

JKW posts here, is my best friend, and is a BLAST tech. I have never seen anything but professionalism out of BLAST.

Delta Paintball is ZACH LONG'S shop. I'm pretty sure they have a clue about what they are doing with Bob Long products. I've always had top quality service from Bob Long. Call BLAST directly and I am sure you'll get a better response.

For all you know the kid didn't explain the situation properly etc etc blah blah. Call BLAST and you'll probably have to ship the gun in and I'd bet you money that they replace the whole body free.

The only way I could see this happening is if the "kid" in question neglected to install or tighten his Firing Engine Retaining Screw ("FERS"). The threading on the FERS is very robust. Even an epic over-pressurization from a failed HPR would not over-pressurize the marker enough to force the Firing Engine Back Block off the marker and strip the FERS threads. I also sincerely doubt the "back plate and everything inside" could possibly exit the marker with sufficient velocity to put a hole in a mask.

The body bulged? Ridiculous. I hate to borrow language from Agglandia, but "pics or shens." These claims are reminiscent of BONESisAgod on AO. BONESisAgod is the yahoo who claimed an original AGD Superbolt seperated during play, creating a dangerous projectile which caused bodily injury. His claims were later shown to be untrue and nothing more than a desperate attempt at garnering attention.

If you're telling the truth, you should contact BLAST immediately to prevent any future injuries. I assure you, no legitimate BLAST employee would take such a claim lightly.

Okay... Shenanigans.

One of the locals to me had his closers back cap where the screw sits in break.. and all it did was puff out and leak... not rocket off and take out everything in is path.
