Old Project - Sheridan barrel insert

So here is one of those projects I spend a *LOT* of time on, with results that were infuriating at best.

I had gotten it into my head that using brass shim stock, and a large soldering iron, I *might* be able to create an insert to go inside the large bore Sheridan brass to accommodate today's much smaller paint.

Here is the photo proof that not everything I dream up works

The collar around the muzzle to allow the insert to be removed.

Looking down the bore from the breech end, before testing. It looks good now

Breech end of the insert. What a colossal failure.

With further encouragement from certain locals... You know who you are! I decided to revisit this project for a Stroker for Critical...

Here are the results

Looking down the bore from the muzzle end of the insert

Breech end of the insert

The removal ring is far smaller on this one and much less obtrusive.

You can see the seam in the rolled shim stock

I don't have any pictures of this failure, but it was almost as good as the first experiment. I did far more solder work to this one, so it was a much grander implosion like self destruction.
