PPS Barrel?

Hi I'm new to Carter's just bought a Buzzard from Donkey Oatey. I am quite familiar with Nelson's but this will be my first Buzzard. I've read that the internal ID of the barrels is some ware in the .690 range. One thought I had was to get a PPS Autococker barrel in .680 with wedgits. Looking at their barrels I have for other guns I realize they lack the taper. I also am suspicious that they may be to narrow for the pump. Has any one tried this? I'm guessing that if I go this route I probably need to call and see if they can do it custom. Might be better just to get wedgits on the stock barrel. Or a new one from Carter's.

You can get the PPS barrels sleeved for 1"OD, PPS barrels are great but very expensive.
I would recommend getting your Carter Barrel Wedgited. Not too expensive.

I actually went with a Lapco sizer on mine instead of Wedgiting. Works great and was $20.

That is a really good idea.

Just ordered a couple. Even if they don't work out it will let me bring back some of my favorite old barrels for my Sniper and Cocker. Be nice to use something other then the Freak for a change.

Some of the Buzzards Breach won't close all the way with a Lapco Sizer.
Going down an oring size on the bolt usually solves it.
You can also just put a bevel on the sizer to match the stock barrel.

FYI I don't think I have ever used a sizer other than 680 on mine and had no issues.

Good luck!

Do any aftermarket barrels really work well with the Buzzard? I will be half tempted to take a file or grinding stone to the insert. Or maybe just cut it down a little. Might get tricky as the barrel stops the forward motion of the bolt. I don't want constant atotrigger. Has anyone tried just removing the bolt oring altogether?

Contact stanchy and see if he will freak bore and add the carter bevel. He did it for short.

Got everything together today! It does great with the Lapco sizers but I can't keep it from pulling the freak insert out of the Lapco barrel. Same problem with standard freak barrel. I think maybe if I just don't screw the barrel all the way in? Any good tricks?

use a little teflon tape from home depot and wrap it around the insert it will snug it so the bolt will not pull the insert out
