The Poor Commando's hawaiian jersey?

Not to detract from the upcoming Hawaiian print jersey order..since I'll still probably order one, whenever they occur. But, I had a day off, and felt 'artsy-craftsy'. No, I did not wear any birkenstocks or patchouli oil. I may have hummed "kumbaya" during the process, but I'll never admit it.

Total cost, ~$20, including the shirt (closeout/imperfection). Lettering was all vinyl heat-transfer. I've used it before, and seems to last reasonably well, washed in cold water and as long as no fabric softener is used. I needed to put my CC patches on something, since it was long overdue. Gotta get a PPS patch on there sometime soon. I'm all ready to wear this at Castle...and probably a few of our local CC pump events first. Behold!

Looks nice!

Where/how did you do the Vinyl work? I want to make some name tags but I dont think it's worth it to shell out some $30 dollars for some one time job (at least where I'd be getting it) .

I think it's around $10 at a local sporting goods store.. I don't think it's too expensive. They probably make Iron-on decals or something too.

You can buy thermo-vinyl (aka T-shirt vinyl) online in sheets, for quite cheap (my next project may involve some fancier holographic vinyl). You can just use a stencil to cut your own letter/numbers, or buy them precut. Or, just take a look at some of your local fabric/craft stores, which is what I did that day. I bought some pre-cut letters in a font I liked. You can use a regular home iron instead of a heat press, if you have patience, and keep firm pressure on the letters. Don't do too big of an area all at once. However, name tags should be relatively easy. Keep a piece of stiff cardboard under the fabric, to prevent the vinyl from taking on any shape that an ironing board may leave. Set the iron on WOOL, and with NO steam. In fact, make sure the iron is entirely empty, to make sure no water gets onto the vinyl transfer. I found that the easiest ones to use are "soft flock" letters and numbers, since they don't tend to peel at the edges quite as quickly. The key is to have lots of patience. After you've applied the letters, let them cool, then re-iron on the wrong side of the fabric. Let them cool completely and entirely before you attempt to remove the paper backing.

I use Hired Goon on a police forum I frequent. I was once told by a rather intoxicated individual "you're just one of chief so-and-so's hired goons". I found it quite humorous, so thought it would make a funny name. Of course, moderating here on MCB, I guess I can also be one of Carter's hired goons too I think I would have to go with Crusher though...Lowblow sounds like there's some other questionable connotation to it. I completely forgot about the Simpsons characters 'till you mentioned it.

If he wasn't, he wouldn't be a very good hired goon. Now, would he?
