Puncture pin seal question
My RTP sheridan is using a CCI pierce pin and I noticed the original seal is blown out and gone.
Surprisingly, 12 grams are sealing just fine. In fact I found it easier and quicker to seal a 12 gram without the puncture pin seal.
My question is whether a seal is absolutely necessary? Am I just getting lucky for now and will the puncture pin eventually be damaged by not having a seal?
Can someone with the same experience please chime in?

I've owned a couple nelspots without pierce seals, just the pierce pin. They seal just fine until you overpierce, which can be a bit of a pain. I would throw a seal in there just to prevent that chance.
