50 round low profile loader for stock feed bodies

I've been fighting with a design for a low profile, lightweight 50 round loader. More importantly, I needed a design to which I could apply tool path rather than make an injection mold.

As you can see, the hole for the receiver is semi captive. The loader must be slid on to the marker from either the front or rear and then a machine screw fastens it in place like the stock feeder. The loader's axis is about 30 to that of the marker's bore.

The loader will accept APP pod flip top lids so replacement parts are a non issue.

For several reasons, the part will be made from black acetyl solid round stock.

One concern I have is whether it will feed all of the balls. I can't help but think maybe the last 4-5 balls could suffer feeding issues.

Thoughts?

UPDATE, pics below

The production version will not have tool marks all over it. While trying to keep the loader a reasonable size, the capacity was reduced to 40 rounds. The initial fears of improper feeding are now moot. It feeds to the last ball.

Production parts will be available very shortly.

Showing the loader captive around the receiver with the marker upside down.

Can that single screw hold the weight of the loader and the extra paint? Knowing little about Phantoms that is the only real concern I would have with it.

It looks like a very good execution of K.I.S.S.

That's a smart question.

By machining the part from a polymer, it allows a zero clearance or possibly an interference fit hole for the receiver.

I'm betting on both the friction of the loader slid on to the marker and the machine screw to hold it all together. I don't forsee any issues.

I was curious if it was intended to also slide over the body of the marker and 'hug' it a little. The screw could essentially be given the task of clocking the loader along the axis and preventing any sliding, while the tendency of the loader to move away from the body would be addressed by the shape of the mating surfaces. Sounds pretty cool to me.

Nice design! Usually I think Phantoms with a hopper looks silly because of the size of the gun compared to the hopper, but I don't think it will look strange with a hopper like this.

Bravo

maybe if the inside bottom had a 'channel' like the old indian springs hoppers so the last few balls would line up nice and pretty? May not TOTALLY feed the last few without some reverse rock-and-cock, but the benefits FAR outweigh such a minor technical problem.

Will these be only available for phantoms then?

They way you have it sitting on the phantom should be fine as the whole hopper is resting on it for the most part.As for feeding i would imagine you wouldint have any more an issue than with normal gravity hoppers as its on an angle.

This is a great idea id love to get one for my phantom.

The single screw shouldn't be a problem at all, a lot of people (including myself) use a vertical feed adapter that only uses that one mounting hole, and then we have a hopper plugged into the top of it.

I would LOVE one of these
