Phantom Newbie Question

I just just recently aquired a Phantom setup in a trade and am looking to start some pump play. However, I do not have a chrono to test my fps, but I think it might be shooting a little hot. I have the velocity turn down all the way (counter clockwise with that tool that goes down the barrel). I plan to go play tomorrow with it, but if it is still shooting hot with the velocity turned down all the way, what else can I do to help lower the velocity? I was not able to find anything in the stickies.

Thanks in advance.

If your shooting hot with the velocity turned all the way down the only thing you can do if get a weaker main spring or a stronger valve spring.

OK, thanks. Looks like NONE of the stores here in the DC area carry Phantom stuff, so I might just have to use the G3 tomorrow after all.... Have to wait and see when I chrono it.

If your desperate enough you coukld cut down the mainspring. Otherwise i would suggest calling mike and order a blue mainspring.

I cant get mine to shot below 300 with the stock spring but the blue one can go between 220-320fps.

If you decrease the velocity adjuster too much you may find that the internals bind up on the return stroke. You may find it easier to unscrew the barrel and use a flathead srcewdriver instead of messing with the adjusting rod.

Depends what gas ur using.

It's usually stock main for CO2 and blue main for HPA.

If you really want to play with it, clip the spring for tommorrow and buy the parts kit ($11 plus shipping I believe) that comes with the spring set (light, med and hard) and other bits.

As far as I know, everything is original in it. the Mainspring is silver. I am gonna wait until tomorrow and see what it chronos at, and then clip it if I need to. I also read somewhere that if you heat a spring, that can make it softer too. Anyone know anything about this?

Either way, I'll prolly get the parts kit IronExpress mentioned.

Well it seems all my fears were for naught. Infact, I wouldn'c Chrono any higher than 260, but she worked like a dream all day!
